it's just a trend, you forget that for most people quality is pretty inconsequential. teto is somewhat counterculture but it's mostly just for the meme/character rather than the voice. do you really think the original product matters when it comes to trends? Vocaloid in general is just a meme for most people. though i have to say the vids scary miku is just fucking ugly normally I like body horror etc shit but it's just badly designed and offputting

Teto SV still sounds like Teto. It's sort of like the difference between listening on AM radio and going to a live performance. One has greater definition than the other.
>>
>>6124170
The updated Teto sound is still very unique to my turboaspie ears. It still sounds like Teto, just a lot cleaner and more capable. Immediately took Teto from great to the absolute undisputed best in my opinion. I would love to see what the same sort of update would do for Miku and others, provided the original unmodified voices are still available too. Sperging out over even the slightest possible change isn't gatekeeping, it's fear of the unknown. The simplest fix is to keep the old available with the new rather than replacing.

Yes? AI is a satanic construct that will lead to our demise as a species, It has no place in any part of society and should not be tolerated in the slightest.

>soulless machine augmented music
Anon... we're talking about Vocaloids and Utauloids. It all fits under the "soulless machine augmented music" banner lol.

>AI is a satanic construct
I wouldn't call AI "Satanic". More of a tale of unbridled hubris and unrestrained competition. Better get used to AI everywhere in everything. It's far too late to stop it. Enjoy the goofy stupid fun of the "slop" era while you can. It's going to end soon. It's not going to be long before it's outright impossible to trust anything without having physically been there to witness it in person. There will be AI generated "footage" that even the best AIs can't catch. That'll probably come within a few years at most. Then the real bad times come. It doesn't even have to become self aware and go full SkyNet to be the end of us.

I have a theory that advanced AI is a major part of the "Great Filter". At first it sounds amazing. You can use all that processing power to cure cancer, develop new wondrous technologies rapidly, and otherwise raise society far more rapidly than ever before. Then malicious actors get ahold of it and the firehose of falsehood becomes an inescapable deluge. I've thought about this a lot and no matter the countermeasure you offer it won't be good enough as there's no guarantee other models will be so cautious or careful in their design. It's an INCREDIBLY dangerous technology that should be only developed very cautiously and deliberately. A key problem is it's also such a powerful technology that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT let adversaries unlock it's potential first. This forces everyone to proceed with far less than the level of care it deserves and rush. Another issue is once the rabbit is out of the hat those malicious actors can often simply just create their own models without any safeguards others have. Again, I believe it's too late to stop it now. We just have to hope we squeeze through instead of getting caught.
>>
>>6125737
I am 100% sure if we make it out of the solar system we're going to eventually find dead worlds with historical records of massive existential wars against threats that never existed and incredible species defining events that never happened. It will all look absolutely real.

In a way I suppose, I can't deny that, it'd be like kvetching over synthesizers in music. I do think the characters that have evolved around the voice packs are interesting in their own right, and I'm probably just anthropomorphising too much.
>unbridled hubris
indeed, will lead to our downfall i fear

pretty much take this approach to most things for a few years now desu, shit's gone crazy.
>It doesn't even have to become self aware and go full SkyNet to be the end of us.
Oh I know, that's why i see it as abbysal and satanic because it'll make us destroy ourselves rather than it destroy us.
>ABSOLUTELY CANNOT let adversaries unlock it's potential first
I'm aware of the arms race, it's innevitable with the advent of any type of technology. It's just the first time the technology can outmaneuver us possibly in a (synthetically) conscious way. No one will ever truly know the end goals of AI.
>>6125742
Personally I don't think we'll ever find anything out there, but that's interesting enough in its own right I suppose.

Teto SV has a significantly larger range than before. So there's less need to tune to any specific genre as you might have to with others like Miku.

>The lines are not as crisp as I would have hoped for. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow at a lower resolution.
I don't know enough about the VP9 codec resampling technique to provide a definitive answer, but logically you would want to stick to whole pixel ratios if you're trying to maintain sharpness. Going from 4 (2x2), 9 (3x3), 16 (4x4) to 1. So for this video: 1080x1080, 720x720, or 540x540.
>>6129397
>I notice I'm coming in under the file size limit by a ways.
If you go by the math for this video to hit 6MB the encoder ends up with ~5.5MB as with your posts. But if you adjust the bitrate from there based on the percentage under the desired size, you end up 300KB over. Then you have to dial it back to find the goldilocks zone.
My guess based on limited experience would be that the film grain texture is causing these issues. At least that's what I've seen in the past. Even videos with a mostly static frame will produce odd results. For example, this video had to have its resolution dropped significantly because it was taking 3-4 times longer than typical to encode while also producing much larger files than expected.
>>
>>
>>6130349
File size is not mysterious, it's a function of bitrate and time. ffmpeg can undershoot when there are long sequences of static images but this is typically minimized when doing 2-pass average bitrate.
All other methods like crf and 1-pass are a waste of time when you're going for a 6mb file. Anon is either using the wrong method or is calculating based on the wrong definition of megabyte. The size limit is 6*1024*1024, not 6*1000*1000
> logically you would want to stick to whole pixel ratios if you're trying to maintain sharpness
placebo unless you're explicitly specifying nearest neigbor, but default is bicubic
>>
>>
>>6130908
>File size is not mysterious, it's a function of bitrate and time. ffmpeg can undershoot when there are long sequences of static images but this is typically minimized when doing 2-pass average bitrate.
Right. But then why do strange things happen with film grain? Files end up larger and with significantly increased encoding times. Does this triggering something that causes it to break the frame into the smallest blocks, or causing it to update blocks when it isn't necessary? I've seen this a few times.
>>
>>6130953
vp9 typically destroys film grain at low bitrate and doesn't handle it as well as h264. If you think about it, grain is a massive inconsistency frame-by-frame so it's having a hard time coming up with a solution between keyframes.
I don't know what you mean by larger. If you're using crf that would be true because preserving the grain and maintaining a set perceived quality is more expensive, but for average bitrate you might see a slight overshoot especially for longer durations but all things considered ffmpeg is good at hitting the target size.
>>
>>6130957
>If you think about it, grain is a massive inconsistency frame-by-frame so it's having a hard time coming up with a solution between keyframes.
But the grain doesn't move in >>6130349. It's a static image with some lyrics. I'd thought that the codec just held any constant parts of the frame and only updated what changes. Compared to similar videos like >>6126373 and >>6097898 it's much larger despite all of them being given bitrates to come in just under the file size limit. So it's not larger than the intended size. But it is larger, and took a lot longer to encode, than expected.
>>
>>
>>6131010
>So it's not larger than the intended size.
I'll amend this. Just tried encoding >>6130349 again at 1280x720 with a total average bitrate of 228kbps. Resulting file is 7.6MB when it should be around 5.9MB. It's usually really consistent so I don't get what's going on here.
>>
>>6131019
Are you by chance not accounting for the size of the audio? The audio in the webm you posted is 1.9MB.
>>
>>6131146
Video set to 180kbps. Audio set to 48kbps. If you want to try it and point out the issue it could be a fantastic learning experience for everyone.
