Oh, oh wait... you'd didn't mean 'western' as in Cowboys did you? My bad. Still a good book you should read though.

I don't think there's a book like that.

First off, I don't think there's a book that can singularly cure you of being a manchild to begin with. In addition to that, most of the books in the classical western canon were written by people who would clearly be considered very insecure and violent by modern standards.

I mean, maybe the Enchiridion would be ok, but even if you read it, so what? You will have received a pep talk about being strong and stoic. You've had pep talks before, I'm sure. How much good did it really do you?

Here's a book most /lit/lets haven't heard about.
When you'll start reading it you'll laugh your ass off of how at much of a lazy fat bastard the Main Character is but later you will eventually start feeling suffocated by the realization that he is you and that you have to change your life ASAP.

Unironically "The Problem Of The Puer Aeternus" by Marie Louise Von Franz.
You can watch Dr. K's essays on the Puer Aeternus as an intro if you are too lazy to read this book.

pretty much any bildungsroman.
A Confederacy of Dunces (main character is a huge manchild; it might not rouse any self-improvement, but read it anyway.)
its neither western or /lit/, but watch Late Spring by Yasujirou Ozu, especially if you've got any sort've family stuff holding you down. great film.
