Their dinosaur hardware is finally biting the dust, and they both need replacements. I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to computer shopping, but I figure with labor day and back to school sales I can get them something actually good with their low budget.
They told me to find something 300 or less since they have to get 2 of it, but I could probably recommend stuff up to 350. They also want it to be able to last them a good few years without becoming completely obsolete. For reference, my dad is currently using a macbook pro from 2014 and his wife has one of those budget laptops that may as well just be a chromebook.
If something actually good on this budget is essentially a unicorn hunt even with ongoing sales, I can take that as an answer too, but I'd appreciate recommendations nonetheless.

If all your Parents do with it are browsing and checking mails get them some cheap 200 bucks laptops
If you want more for less look for refurbished ones
If you want even more and are not afraid to get your hands dirty get a refurbished one without OS and install it yourself

As good as those options probably are, I'm just looking for a simple "here's something that won't lose support for anything basic in the next 8-ish years". I'm still enough of a layman that I don't understand much about specs and internals beyond "bigger number betterer". Storage I get because it can hold more things, and memory I get because it can do more at once, but anything else is magic.
Sorry for the lack of elaboration, I'm recovering from a convention and can't think of a better way to say it.

>Amazon
>search laptop
>filter for 200-300 bucks
As i said, if all they do is Internet, Mails and some office stuff this is enough
Bought one for my parents (Lenovo something) its running for years now, whenever there is a Problem (they bought the Windows sub) i just sit there and let the call center guy do it
Dont overthink this, rather talk with them about what they need it for

Most old people are better off just using a tablet.
