So I tried to open a program in my file manager by double clicking it and my cat was sitting on a key at the same time. This apparently made the program I was trying to open and another (because i clicked twice) disappear. I have no idea what key on my keyboard my cat pressed down and I don't know where the files went nor do I know what the action is called. If anyone could tell me what I did and how to get the program back that would be great
I am confused but first what filemanger and look into your keybind settingsOut of curiousity, what kind of program do you want to Start from file manager?
>>1538926Thunar file managerpicrelIt's a linux version of a game that I just double click to open like anything else
>>1538924First use Catfish or FIle Search to search for the name of the executable to if it was moved somewhere.
>>1538932No files found
i'm assuming you didn't change thunar shortcut keybindsseveral things i can think ofit went to the trash (delete)it got deleted permanently (shift+delete and then enter)the file got renamed (f2) and maybe deleted to the trash or permanentlythe file got renamed with a dot in the beginning and you have turned it into a hidden fileyou moved it somewhere else
>>1538979>you have turned it into a hidden filehow do i solve this one
nvm i solved it, thanks for the help
>>1538995...care to share with the rest of the class?
>>1539006I'm a little embarrassed to say what the fix was (it went to the recycling bin) also worth noting if I didn't create a recycling bin previously it would've been gone for good. For some weird reason linux mint doesnt come with a recycling bin but it still lets you delete stuff into the void
>>1539019>linux mint doesnt come with a recycling binWat? That sounds like bullshit
>>1539019It does come with a recycling bin.
>>1539019barebones linux (like without any desktop environments like mint's xfce/cinnamon, with file managers like thunar) does not have trash by default. the file managers implement their own version of it.linux mint does come with a DE and a file manager though, so it does have trash. that is unless you decide to either permanently delete the file or you use the command line to rm the file
