Any tips on reducing data hoarding? How do you determine what is and isn't valuable? I've got thousands of anime pics, random documents, gameplay videos that I don't look at. It seems like a waste to throw it away since I'll never see them ever again but it's also a waste of time to organize them all. I've probably spent 10 hours this week to barely make a dent in my archives.

Keep books, movies, shows, Musik
Anything else is mostly never used again aa you noticed

You don't. You buy more storage.

If you often save anime pics from boorus, you should start using the program Hydrus. Basically lets you have a personal booru on your computer. Makes it much easier to search for things.
For the files you've already downloaded either just buy more storage and ignore it, or force yourself to reduce the amount of time you spend looking at each item thinking "is this worth keeping?" to less than a second. Rapid fire the delete key.

I'm all for hoarding data, but that there is a waste. Just hoard the games

Just buy more drives. I buy a new drive like once a year. Sometimes I just buy a new drive to replace a drive that is starting to show its age.

Obviously reevaluate the value of those game clips. You can losslessly cut the important bits and even reencode them to save more space as well. The pictures are gonna be a hassle, but there are tools to sort them and AI can help, too. That being said, don't stop hoarding. File sharing as we know today is always on shaky ground, so don't take it for granted. They say nothing disappears from the internet, but someone actually has to seed for that to be true. As long as you have space, it's not really a waste.

As a rule, if it's old, might dissapear, has use in continuing to exist or being shared in any capacity, espacially if it's not posted around anymore, I'd keep it. Maybe make a dedicated folder for that sort of thing. If they are images of no apparent value to you now, nor any future use, I'd just get rid of them for that alone. If there's no real urgency in getting rid of it (I don't know why there would unless you just have so much it would require it to get rid of it), then it taking a good while before things are cleared up shouldn't be much of an issue I'd think.

You could also make a folder just for the things you are uncertain of, dedicated to sorting them out, and eventually you'll be rid of all you don't need, or one for things of value, to differentiate.

Most of my images are kinda ass, but there are some I value, having saved them over so many years, and so it becomes almost a time capsule, so I tried to preserve them for that. A lof got corrupted though because microsoft is run by a bunch of faggots. I have some images on here, quite a few actually, that probably would never be posted again, let alone perhaps even exist, had I not preserved them.
