4chan is influential, even now, but not many people use the site. At most the site had 10 million users. Why is it like this? And why does it seem so many people have used this site and other chans? I've met others that claimed to used or have been on this site.

4chan is kind of an internet tourist destination - lots of people come here once or twice to say that they've been to 4chan, but don't stay. a lot more people get shit that was disseminated from here (and other chans) to tiktok, reddit, youtube, facebook, etc.
4chan is one of the few communities with enough leeway for freedom.Even if we are 1% of the Internet community, what we do has more potential to grow than whatever is done under the heavy scrutiny of, say, Instagram or Twatter.We skip the social pressure and stepping on eggs, so we can run.
