I use opera on android because I like these swipe tabs, but with the new update it that added tab islands I'm confident no one wants or uses, they changed the tabs.
The new style looks like dogshit and is too bright, but beyond that everything has animations so there is a very noticeable delay when closing and switching tabs that pisses me off.
Ideally I would like a way to switch this back in opera without having to download an older version, or at least to disable the animations.
If not, please reccomend an android browser.
This dogshit really pissed me off.

Yup.
Click the 3 dots on the bottom right, hit settings, disable Tab Islands. That's all I got

Go into android's developer mode and disable these three animation things.

Settings > Advanced > User Interface > Disable Animations. I'm not sure how recently this was added.

Yeah it's still slow cause of the animations that take like 3 seconds on tab switch

Turning off all animations for this is a bit too jarring, I switched to opera mini for now that seems useable, but I suppose it's just a matter of time before everything is fucked up there too, thx tho.
