Are there any games with a "feeling" (I'm not sure how to call it) like the snes game Demon's crest(Demon's blazon in japan) and I don't mean "with that kind of gameplay" because when I tried to google it all I got was just a bunch of metroidvania games.I mean more like the "Ambient", I really enjoyed that "living in a dark world" setting, where everything was creepy(?) and the music had this strange vibe too (it was mainly organ music, something you may have heard in some ancient church, which made it kinda... contradictory to the ambient you were).I'm not good at expressing myself, but I want something that may give similar "feelings" while playing it.Are there any games which may cover this?
>>1543287i love the demon crest music and the vibe is just so specialmaybe ghosts n goblins? but its uh pretty differentbump
>>1543287There aren't, really. I've had the same question for over a decade and no answer. The closest games are Castlevania and some obscure untranslated JP stuff, but nothing that you can say "If you loved Demon's Crest, you're going to love ________".
>>1543769>>1543290thanks anyways for trying, now I guess I'll at least search for games with organ music, I kind of really liked that.
>>1543287I think there are areas in La-Mulana that look similar to this. Without trying to spoil anything there is one area in particular I'm thinking off that's called Twin's Labyrinths. The game plays nothing like Demon's Crest. It's more like a puzzle game.
Have you heard of Gynoug?https://youtu.be/c6U3W-fSkmU?si=OqvKELSPj28hzrd1
>>1543959>>1543932Thank you all for your help, I guess I don't even know what I really want...I mean, the first time I played demon's crest, it felt pretty different from the usual mario games I used to play, it was a dark world, and you weren't "they good guy" either, and the music made it more immersive. Maybe what I wanted was "something which would make me have a similar feeling while playing it", but I doubt it.I also investigated a bit by myself, and the soul reaver for psx had some "similar setting" (you are a wraith, in a post apocalyptic world where vampires are the masters), but didn't feel the same, in the previous one "blood omen" you are also a "dark being", but the world isn't a world of darkness (at least not in the open). After watching gynoug, it seems to have a bit of parts of music I liked, and the enemies seem "bizarre", but it really doesn't seem to give a similar vibe... but as I said, it seems not even I know what I really want.Maybe something like this comic, but I'm probably just some ungrateful one who will keep rejecting everything shown to me (maybe that game was actually "unique", and it'd be hard to find something which I may like as this anon said >>1543769 )Thank you all again, and I guess I should first know how to actually express myself before asking for something.
>>1543964>I don't even know what I really wantYes, you do. You can't articulate what you want, because nothing else has it... at least not exactly.Demon's Crest has a VERY unique feel and atmosphere that no game comes close to. You're in this hopeless, downtrodden, ruined world where you feel you're in a sequel of a game where everyone already lost, evil took over, and you're exploring whatever is left, going through the motions of an existence without purpose, while all the other characters are doing nothing but surviving. You aren't the hero, you're not trying to save someone, you're not avenging anyone (except yourself), there are no institutions, no organizations, no cities. There are couple of "shops" were the outliers among the demons seek simple entertainment or to satisfy their aimless curiosity, but that's it. Meanwhile, you go around breaking stuff and bullying your inferiors out of boredom while getting your infinity gems back to beat that faggot that one time sucker punched you while you where having a flight nap. There is no happy ending in this world for anyone, only struggle. This is the bad ending of every game you've ever played, forever. But that's just the theme. On top of that it has a particular art style, rough and borderline unclean, with unusual character designs, and a strange focus on the levels (e.g architecture, landscapes, etc.), which coupled with a haunting OST that crawls into your brain in its exuberance, it cements how truly beyond over this realm is. This game is truly one of a kind. You're me ten years ago, and you're not going to find what you're looking for, because it doesn't exist.
>>1543964With that said...>Maybe something like this comicThings like that do exist, specially among free games and indies, but they can be hard to find based on what you're feeling like playing and your tolerance for different genres and how dated some games are.Depending on your age, consider starting with Diablo 1 (https://gog-games.to/game/diablo, don't install Hellfire for now) to test your tolerance for old games, and go from there chronologically. Once you have, report back (I assume this thread will last quite a while) and we can talk again based on your experience. You can also take that image, go to /v/, wait for a variation of "drop an image get a recommendation" thread (or start your own) and see what you get. Some newer games that might satisfy your craving are Carrion and Death Trash, check them out. You may like the Hylics games too.
>>1543979>consider starting with Diablo 1already played that with friends (using hamachi) I wouldn't say it was boring, but it's a different feeling, and they kept telling me stuff like "dude, you shouldn't raise the necromancer stats like that, you should have picked a warrior instead if you were going to be like that, the good thing about necromancers is filling the screen with skeletons), and that kind of ruined my experience.I think I may be tolerant to low graphics>Carrion and Death Trash>HylicsI'm going to check that out, but I'm not really specifically searching for "gore stuff". I also checked "fear and hunger" but I really didn't enjoy that either.
>>1543964well you could try castlevania (the reverse castle one is the best in my opinion) or hollow knight if you dont care that the enemyes arent that scary in the majority of the game
>>1543964Dragon View maybe???
>>1544077>Diablo 1>he good thing about necromancers is filling the screen with skeletonsThat's not Diablo 1.>I'm not really specifically searching for "gore stuff".They have "gore", but Carrion is more about you being the villain, and Death Trash more about that feeling of morbid hopelessness.
>>1544101>That's not Diablo 1I will check it then>>1543976>You're in this hopeless, downtrodden, ruined world where you feel you're in a sequel of a game where everyone already lost, evil took over, and you're exploring whatever is left, going through the motions of an existence without purpose, while all the other characters are doing nothing but surviving. have you ever heard of castlevania my man
>>1544348yes, already played a lot of those, and loved symphony of the night for various reasons, but it wouldn't be what I was looking for.
>>1543287Check out Capcom games contemporary with Demon's Crest. Two that come to mind are Three Wonders and The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse.
>>1543287Used to love this on the A500, no music apart from the intro.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gods_(video_game)
