A year ago I got let go from my job, but they never asked for the laptop back. They said they would mail me a box to send them the laptop, but that box never arrived, and HR paid me and never sent follow up emails asking for return of the laptop. I have tried to use it, but it presents me with a screen like pic related and asks for a 6 digit code. From my research so far, it seems like my only recourse is to take it to the apple store or an approved apple technician and hope that they reset it for me without contacting my former employer. But, are there any apple employees here or anyone who is truly knowledgeable about MacBooks who can point me in the right direction?

Always entertaining seeing what stories the come up with.

>>1545926I was given the item by my employer. They never asked for it back after firing me. It has been over a year since they fired me. I believe that according to the dictum of "finders keepers, losers weepers" it is my rightful item. And I want to be able to utilize it
>>1546007>losers weepers
>>1546007you were given the item to do your job. you are no longer doing that job, so you have no right to the item. the fact that they have not sent their gestapo to retrieve it from you does not mean you get unfettered access to the software on it. they probably never bothered to follow up about it because they know you cannot use it and it is basically worthless to them now anyway.no one is going to be able to help you unlock it.
Also a slight thing, just minuuute question:If that is supposedly your laptop that you used many times why don't you know the PIN?
>>1546106it's not asking for the login pin but for an unlock code set by the company when they locked the device remotely
>>1546106they remotely locked it after he got fired
give it back Tyrone
