Question. When deciding on which source to torrent, should I just go with whichever one has the most downloads, or seeds? Should I bother enlightening myself about the terminology that's used, or does it really just amount to minutiae?

I would prefer sources of a higher quality so that I can take high quality screenshots for reference, but I'm pretty ignorant about what exactly gets taken into consideration; I don't know what constitutes a high quality rip, I just know buzzwords like "encoding" and "codecs".

Also, provide charts pls and/or any recommendations for anime (and manga, though primarily anime). I forgot I was paying for a VPN for "a few" months, and now I want my money's worth in anime, manga and VNs.

Furthermore, now that Mangadex is dead, and the guy behind Comick fumbled his second site, what's the go-to source for downloading (translated) manga? I assume that Nyaa will suffice as well?

It depends, I would say yes I regret not learning about it and for years watching a shit ton of shows in 720p, for newer shows after 2016, WEB-DL 1080p's are pretty good. But for older shows, TV/live action or anime movies, there's a huge difference in quality from the raws (Blurays, TS/m2ts, DVD-ISO or even some MKVs).

>I don't know what constitutes a high quality rip
What matters the most is just the resolution and bitrate, If you watch something in 10,000~20,000 mbps against a 720p/1080p video then you'll notice a big difference in details, sharpness and colors, etc.

Is easier to understand by comparing it to youtube, the old TV/DVDs are usually 360p/480p, a 720p youtube video usually has 2,000 mbps and a 1080p video usually has between 6,000~8,000 mbps, but a raw file usually has 10,000 or way more.
