What are some of the most cost-efficient air fryers that are just 1/3 the price of fancy ones but are just a small step below in quality?

I don't know shit about air fryer qualities, but I have a Gourmia and it's been perfectly fine for me. Had it for about 4 years now with no issues.

Does the non stick coating on the tray and basket not wear off for you? My cheap ones always come off. I do use a silicone liner now.

I haven't had an issue with sticking, though I usually use wax paper inserts for anything that will take longer than 30 minutes to cook.

You can't fry air.

If you have an oven with a convection oven, then congratulations. You already own an air fryer. A convection oven is the same thing.

Not quite, air friers vent a huge amount of hot air from the cooking chamber compared to a normal sized fan forced convection over. They're smaller so there's less metal to heat up and no pre heat needed but they make for that by blowing your heat out the back.

The break even point is about 30 minutes. If you're cooking the small amount that can fit in an air frier and it's less than 30 minutes, the air frier probably uses less energy. If you're cooking for more than 30 minutes in an air frier, like if you can't fit it all in and have to cook two batches, regular over is cheaper.

Depends on temperature too. At 180 degrees C the break even point might be a bit longer than 30 minutes.

You might be better off with a small benchtop oven or using a normal oven that this air frier meme.

So what's a good benchtop oven?
