I am going out with this girl who is, like me, an otaku. We are both beyond being casuals about the sorts of anime that we watch (in other words, we have seen all the major shounen and should titles, like Ghost Files, Knights of the Zodiac, Cardcaptors etc.). A lot of what I watch would probably not be good anime for watching during a date (Mad Bull 34, Wild 7, et al.), so I am just looking at stuff that I can recommend. So far, I have picrel, Flame of Recca, UC Gundam, plus G, Wing, SEED, VOTOMS, Macross, Area 88, Leiji Matsumoto titles and some CLAMP and Yuu Watase titles.
>>1549608Excuse me for bumping my own thread, but I think that I should add more information...Her favorite anime is Angel Beats... My favorite is A Wind Named Amnesia, though I like comical anime too (e.g Shin Chan). We both like a lot of series, I just do not want anything that we have seen recently and I would be a bit embarrassed if she watches one of the more inappropriate anime that I watch too. Also this is not an immediate thing, I just know that sooner or later, if things work out, a question concerning what anime would you like to watch will come up and I want to have the series torrented in advance for that time.
I don't think this is something you should worry about. If you two like each other, even watching paint dry together would be fun. Try discussing it with her beforehand, picking an anime together could also be fun.I'm probably much more casual than you, but from the stuff I've watched, this is what I would dare to watch with a girl:Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (specifically the movies since it's faster)Otogi-Jūshi Akazukin (feels like a regular cartoon)Gakuen Alice (ok plot, kinda funny sometimes, but it takes awhile to get good)Kemono Friends (it doesn't have a lot going on, so you could talk about something else over it while dunking on the quality of the show)
Higurashi dub is my rec. story interesting enough to just watch if you want to watch something, but the anime has weird animation and VA/dialogue moments that yall could make fun of it together if you’d rather
>>1549608Every couple should watch Boku no Pico together
>>1549628thats shota porn
>>1549623This is true about enjoying each other's company. >>1549623>>1549624Thank you for your recommendations. Any anime that you would discourage for the time being, other than the usual ecchi stuff? I tend to have a good eye, but some people say that I am a bit picky... I draw the line at Ranma 1/2 for now.
>>1549608>good anime for watching during a datethat very much depends on the person.
>>1549661She lurks (not this board, though). She is easygoing too. Maybe that limits things down slightly. Oh yeah, she prefers Fruits Basket 2001 to the newer series...What else would you like to know? I am not going to spill anything too personal, though, but there are a lot of things that I could show her, but I feel are a bit inappropriate at this time. (At the rush of spoiling things, I was considering Warau Salesman, but the endings of certain episodes, including episode one might not be a good thing to watch. Neither of us care about current seasonals as usually the anime rarely lives up to the hype.>Captcha:WUTNGR
>>1549663>she prefers Fruits Basket 2001 to the newer series...Based.I don't see a way to pick for you, knowing very little about you guys and what you are looking for when watching something together. But perhaps anime with a man and a woman solving problems together could be a good call, like Katanagatari and Oshi no Ko.Durarara if you haven't seen it.Genshiken is about otaku culture from the 2000s, it does talk about doujin culture and porn, but it is not an explicit or fanservice anime.Kuragehime, Princess Tutu, Eizouken.Flip Flappers or Dennou Coil if you want to throw some curveballs in, not great but might be memorable. If I had an anime-watching girlfriend I would definitely go for Natsume Yuujinchou, I like it very much and apparently it's very big with fujoshis but guys don't usually like it. So win-win for me.Noragami for good measure, similar to the aforementioned one.Toradora for romance. Sorry, this is too mainstream. Have you guys watched Kobato? It melts my heart. Definitely will make her long for your children.
>>1549705Again, thank you. On that note, I should add Doujin Work to the list. Can't really go wrong with Hiroyuki titles in general.
