Hello all,
I'm trying to get into dungeon synth, but I appear to be too retarded to figure out where to start. Any and all recommendations are appreciated. I'm a fan of VI by Fief as it has that nice atmospheric theme to it.

Thank you

Not really answering your question, but if you are into making music, here's some a sound pack for a VST that's useful for dungeon synth:

I think this is the one I was thinking of.
IIRC, I remember seeing it a while ago and liking some of the sounds.

I would say you have to be retarded to fall for this bullshit made-up genre.
But maybe I am retarded as well, cause it sounds interesting, will check out the stuff posted.

What genre isn't made up? Just be wary of the AI slop that's coming out now. Most of the artists who are legit will state that no AI is used or post videos of themselves playing their instrument(s). The only thing I dislike about the genre is the tendency to go too heavy on the "lofi" effects. Sounds like a cassette tape that needs to be trashed.

True, the name just felt too shoehorned to me.

The stuff in this thread is quiet varied in style, from sounding like just a Mario 64 Soundfont adaptation of other games's soundtracks (so play ROM Hacks if you want more of this), to that Misantrop that sounds like less organic Black Metal.

Overall I am not impressed, as I don't like ambient music much, would rather see some meme driving music style of sharp, electronic shit contrasted with medieval-style melodies and progression.

Still, I will suggest some stuff that crossed my mind, they are not Dungeon Synth, I don't think, but they might tickle your brain positively:

- Bejeweled 3 - Butterflies
Kinda trance-y, kinda medieval.

- Casket - No Crap on Tap!
Irish folk + Minimal Techno
Maybe not Dungeon Synth, but perhaps Dungeon EDM

- Amon26 - Out of Context
Some experimental album by an edgy indie game dev from over a decade ago, I think he has since trooned out. This one is a bit like the stuff I heard in this thread, albeit less ethereal pads and more grit, which I prefer.
