How do you find weird parts of the Internet anymore? Not asking for handouts, but what method or search engine or what leads me to weird discussions or videos. I'd rather watch some Chinese guy show his rice farming equipment or some weirdo explain his made up magic system than some algo slop white people video essay about dark souls. I try to curate my YouTube algorithm but it never gives me fun stuff and the search is horrible. Google sucks too. IDK maybe the fun is over from when I was younger. I'm sure there's cool niche Discord servers but I'm not going on there

The Internet is over, pack it up and move.

The problem is that there is no more indie culture, even if you are a small, niche "creator", you now have major platforms where to post your content and even people who would in ye olde days decide to just post whatever they have to share with the world might be tempted to buy into the "content creator" label and think of himself as a youtuber or some other potentially-profitable-but-not-really existence.

In the past the anglosphere of the Internet was just bored people sharing their hobbies, mostly Americans because Americans have lots of free time and abundant money.

Once the Internet became monetized, the same Americans became pseudo venture capitalists and Europoors started approaching the system as a businenss as well, specially the autistic parasites like Nords and Germs, but also Englishmen who could now afford to share their hobbies while making some pocket money.

If you want to get out of this bubble, you will have to count on luck (being in the right random online game and being invited to their Discord server) OR on local groups.
The Internet has made finding people in a not-so-far-radius easier, people who you might not hear about in the past but now you can.

Most of my curious reading on unexpected information these days comes from reading books, then reading further about the topic on Wikipedia or whatever, then googling for very specific information that hasn't been commodified yet.
That or finding interesting schizos on YT comments and going on rabbit holes.
