Are there any good anime films that are appropriate for showing my father?
My dad has a very eclectic taste in films, and he enjoyed the movie Akira, but that's the only anime film he's ever seen and he's interested in seeing more. His favorite movies are American films from between the 40's and the 70's though.
I considered showing him Perfect Blue because it's a very good psychological drama/psychological horror film, and he enjoys psychological stuff, but I think some of the scenes in it are probably too risque for his tastes. I don't think it's impossible that he could like it but I'd think he'd find it kind of weird.
