What is the best browser for somebody who hates modern browser configurations and doesn't really use social media? Just need a fairly barebones browser without any superfluous gimmicks.I refused to update Firefox for a very long time but noways you can barely use any site properly anymore without having a modern version installed. So I am pretty much forced to update. Should I bother with a different version of Firefox or switch browsers altogether? I hate the newer versions of Firefox but every other browser seems even worse.
>>1553278PALEMOONlove it. works with most things, any rare thing that doesn't work i briefly switch to firefox. it is made and maintained by someone who actually cares about privacy and things like freedom of speech. comes with built in salting, that is, your data can be poisoned so trackers get total bullshit data from you. love it.
>>1553281Thanks for the recommendation but isn't Palemoon kind of a RAM hog? I'd prefer something less demanding but I'll keep it in mind.
>>1553287It probably uses less ram than the other browsers.Look, whichever browser you get is going to be a ram hog, it's unavoidable in 2025. Everything is shit. That's just how it is.How much ram do you have?
>>1553307You know what, you're completely right. Definitely have to accept that this is just the way things are now. Kind of busy right now but I'll definitely give Palemoon a try soon and see how I like it. If the thread still happens to be up, I might post some feedback. Thanks again for the recommendation. If somebody else has any recommendations I'd appreciate those too obviously.
Cromite. it's Chromium (the open source part of Google Chrome) with all the Google/invasive shit removed. few small QoL fixes, notably it has adblock built-in (compatible with standard lists like EasyList etc).definitely not as barebones as say, uzbl on Linux, but it's a stripped-down Chrome for your desktop and phone.
>>1553326I'll try out Cromite as well. Sounds like something I'm searching for. Thank you.
