I have kind of a vague /a/rt request, but do you guys think you could help me find some more anime that have a kind of button/wide eye whites paper doll, style/appearance? I need it for an art study. What I'm specifically interested about it is the dot-button eyes and the habit of the animators to include a full line on the limb joints as if the character were a posable doll or figure. I think it looks neat. I'm mildly aware that Satoru Utsunomiya kind of popularized it, but he isn't the singular source of the style. The 1 to 1 "exactly what I'm looking for" examples I can name off right now are:Long Life To The Ancestors and Fly! Peek the Whale, but those are the only examples atm I'm aware of. A lot of the work Studio 4C does is also adjacent, or very similar, to what I'm looking for, but I've been a big fan of them for a long time and don't necessarily need recommendations for them. Thanks.
Either I'm having a stroke or you suck at explaining your thoughts, are they dolls or do they have lines just because style?Actual dolls/robots: Rozen Maiden, Chobits, Gash Bell, Medabots, the latter two have button eyes in some characters.Just the eye thing: Katanagatari, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Kakushigoto, some background characters in Little Witch Academia (Katya, Alice), but not worth it, too little screentime.
>>1553927I'm under the impression I'm supposed to be "nice" on /wsr/, so: Design. Appearance. Style. I'm looking for an aesthetic/design choice. Out of all the ones you suggested: Medabots is probably the closest to what I'm looking for, so thank you.>>1553923Bumping my thread. I've had some time to think about it and KAIBA is another anime that kind of captures what I'm looking for visually, but borders on a little too cartoony to be exactly what I'm looking for. It's got the eyes, the defined "doll joint" lines, but I'm not exactly looking for "Tezuka exaggerated" proportions.
