Please recommend adventurous anime.I've been out of the anime game for quite a while, and I've suddenly been struck by the urge to watch some. but I don't know where to pick up from.Here are a few guidelines to help me:1. Preferably something made in the last 20 years. But if you got some awesome gem from older times, I'll take that too. I'm a 39yo boomer who grew up on toonami. So can we just skip all of those old popular shows from that time?2. Powers are cool, but I don't want mindless powerwank. Give me something with interesting characters, or good drama, or a good sense of humor, or a combination of those things.3. I don't like edgy stuff.4. Fanservice is fine in small doses. Don't recommend ecchi.5. Don't recommend attack on titan or demons slayer.(I dislike both)
Here's a few shows with some brief descriptions.>Golden Kamuy (2018 - present)Historical adventure / action series set in the early 20th century after the Russo-Japanese War, about a treasure hunt. It's a period piece that portrays a lot of interesting things about the time period and the local culture, especially the Ainu, who are central to the plot. There's conspiracies, action, humor, and lots of characters. Season 5 is currently airing, and at this point they are probably going to finish the manga, which finished its run in 2022. It's a seinen manga adaptation, so expect a more mature tone. It's not really "edgy" but it can be very violent at times, and has plenty of sexual humor as well, though it's not at all what you'd call "ecchi". Just aimed at an adult audience. The first season is pretty rough in terms of animation quality, but the quality of the show improves a lot over time.>Shingeki no Bahamut GENESIS (2014)A high fantasy action show about two rivals / companions and a mysterious girl. The three of them are the unlikely heroes that will save the world. It's fantastically animated and fun, with a real sense of swashbuckling adventure. It's short and sweet at 12 episodes long, a self contained story. There is a sequel to it, but it wasn't very good. You can simply enjoy this is as a fun stand-alone show. It's clean fun, not at all edgy or fanservicy. >Vinland Saga (2019)Historical action / adventure, this time set in 11th century northern Europe. It's based on real, historical people and events, in particular the life of Thorfin Karlsefni, who established a colony on North America with the help of the (more famous) Leif Erikson (who is also a character in this show). But it details also the rise of King Canut the Great of Denmark, who united the crowns of England, Denmark, and Norway to become the ruler of the so-called North Sea Empire, though the story begins years before that, while Thorfin and Canut are both adolescents in wartorn England.
