There is a old internet comic, very simplistically drawn, not too long, where a guy is watching a girl on VHS cook eggs or something because he's bored. The girl in the video pretends to have a conversation with the viewer (him). Slowly, he realizes that he's responding to the video and that he's fallen in love with the girl on the tape.Pic related is roughly what the art style looked like (it's really not far off) and somewhat of a recreation of one of the panels in the comic. It could have also been a DVD and not a VHS tape. The last panel is him saying something like "oh no."
I have not seen this particular strip, but just in case, "oh no" on the last frame is a famous trope of the popular series "webcomic name"https://webcomicname.com/
It's from Pictures for Sad Children. Oddly enough the cartoonist eventually went batshit, trooned out, deleted the site and burnt a bunch of books that (s)he was supposed to send to the people who'd funded the project on kickstarter in an act of anti-capitalist resistance. All this in 2014, so very much ahead of the game.
