I need help deciding between two names.

Field Notes
>works because it's ingredients 'from the field' and notes can be a play on flavor notes
>scientific and naturalistic vibes
>but legal/trademark issues with existing brand
>and also difficult getting a good domain, had to settle for fieldnotesextracts.com since fieldnotescoffee.com was taken, difficulty getting social media handles

Mycelia
>works because it's mushroom
>scientific and naturalist vibes
>might lock the company into mushroom products only but I think that's fine
>purchased myceliacoffee.com, mycelialabs.com and grabbed social media handles @myceliacoffee, @mycelialabs
>would work well for venturing into supplements, extracts etc

One thing I try to keep in mind is that customers don't buy it because it's mushrooms, they buy it for the benefits. And both of these names kind of miss that mark compared to something like 'Ascend' (which is horribly generic but gets the point across). But If the name can differentiate the product at a glance I feel it's helpful.

Field Notes is a far better name. Never choose anything that sounds even remotely sloppy.

Mycelia sounds sloppy to you?

I think you need to reread the problems with Field Notes as a name though. Shitty domain availability and it's a legal minefield with the trademark issues. It's painful to have to bring that axis of consideration into the equation because I like Field Notes the most, but in reality the risks are very high and low domain availability hurts the branding/SEO.

field notes is taken, that's them cute notebooks
mycelium is even more taken (pic related).
do they not have google where you live?

I'd fuck with mycorrhizal as a word. myco-rise "coffee"?
nobody buys mushroom coffee for the benefits, because there aren't any. it's a novelty fad that exists because onions and oat and almond milk all kick ass.

Not mycelium, mycelia.

Didn’t Ryze already do that? And there are observable benefits to cordyceps directly after consumption like an increase in vo2 max.

The product isn’t going to be ‘mushroom coffee’ like Ryze, MUD\WTR, etc where it’s just dried and powderized mushrooms added to instant coffee. it’s going to be high quality extracts applied to whole beans or freeze dried and mixed with ground coffee. It will drink just like coffee but basically contain a serving of extracts embedded in it already.

I don’t like ‘mushroom coffee’ butter product im developing is something I’d actually consume because i enjoy black coffee and get a noticeable mental focus boost from cordyceps.

>field notes is taken
And you can still use a name even if it’s ‘taken’. What matters is if the trademark is the same category, or if a reasonable consumer could confuse the brands (ie, they’d think my ‘Field Notes’ coffee is being produced by the notebook company). I think the risk there is just too high for me at this point honestly and don’t want to deal with legal troubles.

I’m also considering Cosmo Coffee, cosmocoffee.co.

I think what I'm going to do is Mycelia Labs parent company that cultivates the shrooms, manufactures the extracts, does any myco/extract B2B stuff and keep Cosmo as the consumer facing coffee brand owned by Mycelia.

Any objections?
