Can you give me lots of advice on how to study better?
>>1557178Write it down in your own words again! The order of effectiveness from least to highest is reading - copying - repeating vocally - WRITING OWN SCRIPT DOWNI always used the two-step approach, first of all I wrote the contents back down compressed in my own words (Stage 1). I simply used a graphics program (Krita/SAI) with my graphics tablet. Then afterwards I as stage 2 took THAT compressed script and compressed it further into just one page per topic, the idea being that you at that point only need the keypoints to from there in your mind go back to the big script.Once this keyword overview is in your mind you basically know the whole course.Pic related is an example. The script is like 20 of these pages. Stage 2 is then 6 pages of bullet points.
This is stage 2.Notice how it's just short bullet points.Important comments are added in another color to the right, I used red here but whichever you like.It was a lot of work but the result for this course was A+.
>>1557178Anki and other SRS, if the subject has exercises then also just literally doing more of them.
>>1557178Depends on the subject. But basically do problems. It’s the most efficient way. Timed like the exam is even better.Math, STEM: Do a lot of problems. Priority: hw > quizzes > old exams > problem books with solutions > assigned textbook. Non-STEM: Active recall. Teach an empty classroom about the subject. Verbalize it, not silently.Facts and figures: Flashcards. If using programs like Anki, remember you only need 2 features: cloze and reverse cards. Don’t procrastinate by changing settings and installing plugins.Approach to learn from problems with solutions:1. Try a problem. Perhaps for 5 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour. You need to decide how long you’re going to spend on a problem, considering the amount of problems you have (HWs, old exams, etc.) and the available time.2. Check the solution. Figure out what went wrong. Knowledge gaps, misunderstanding, forgotten facts/formulas, etc.3. Take notes of your mistakes. Write it in a notebook. Refer to it when stuck with future problems.4. Do another problem. Rinse and repeat.Cal Newport’s How to Become a Straight-A Student was often recommended. Avoid his newer books, they are just productivity guru BS.https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLocr_pp31BZe8aaLp3jCYutVTNNac4-ruThose are short videos summarizing main ideas of his study advice.
