Without knowing that, my suggestion would be some kind of black oil paint. You'd only need a small amount, so something from an arts and crafts store

I'd disagree.
Currently is white scratch on black - in other words the biggest contrast thre can be. It jumps into your eyes.
Even if afterwards it's not the same kind of black it's preferable as it is not as jarring at first glance at least.
I'd definitely paint it over.
