GoT was terrible while airing. Getting into an argument with someone at work that insisted I'd like GoT is one of the strangest experiences of my life, as he tried to explain that it was good because nudity. I was proven right in the end, as the show indeed never went anywhere and shat itself

This has softened quite a bit, but there were several shows that were inescapable in the 2010s, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, etc.
Nowadays I don't think you'd get any comments about not liking Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.
