Are these temps really high for my CPU when I'm essentially idling? I don't know computers that well. I have a Ryzen 7 5800x and an EVGA CLC All-in-One cooler. I seem to be idling at min 75C

Anyone that knows more that could help?
Happy to provide anything that might help,

Sorry it may help, blue column is current, 2nd is Minimum, 3rd is Maximum and 4th is Average temps.

Yes

You could disable boost in the power plan settings thing though I think you'll need to re-enable the option to change it in registry and you will lose a little bit of performance when you get to some extremely cpu heavy tasks but otherwise you really shouldn't notice anything, alternatively if you're for some reason scared of even opening up registry you could try capping the max cpu usage at 99% in power settings

There's also ryzen controller which can be hit or miss I remember it helping out a lot on my laptop before it broke but you'd have to shop around for a config if you don't know what you're doing but I'm sure there's some around

Thanks man, do you think my cpu cooling pump is failing with numbers like this?
>>
>>1558668
Wow that lowered the temp immediately to ~50C.
Do you think that would cause a large performance dip with gaming?

I've never had, so no idea, sorry. You could try asking in /sqt/ on /g/ someone there will probably know.

Depends on what you're playing and how much/if you are cpu bottlenecked but I wouldn't say there's a (large) dip or at least I haven't really noticed it and if you do then you can always just turn boost back on for when you're playing or doing something more intensive

Wow honestly thanks so much, just played a game of Helldivers and it was smoother than ever, I guess it peaking at such high temp was affecting my performance more than anything.

Sometimes the thermal paste dries out.
