does anybody actually use index mode over catelog mode? why?
>>1558772Yes, Index mode is extensively used over catalog mode in specific technical, data-driven, and organizational contexts where speed, flexibility, and subject-based organization are prioritized over physical, location-based structure. While "catalog mode" (like in retail or traditional filing) is about keeping items in a set place, Index mode acts as an overlay that points to items based on keywords, attributes, or links.
>>1558772Maybe. It can be useful to get a glimpse of what's going on in the threads without entering them and scrolling through potentially hundreds of replies. And some people prefer to interact with only the latest/freshest posts so there's no real difference for them anyway. For this board it can be used to see if the answer/solution was already provided.>>1558777What a waste of trips.
>>1558772I like it, I also have a script to double click a thread to show/unshow replies in the index
>>1558777why would you ask a LLM about this?
i use index mode. i like to see the last few posts in a thread instead of just the op. also, i started using 4chan before catalog mode existed, so it seems "normal" to me. i will use catalog if i'm looking for a specific thread, or if i'm checking out a board i rarely use.
