I graduated High School in 2020 and didn't start college immediately for a multitude of real life BS. I'm finally ready to start it now but I forgot most of the math I learned in high school.

I'd like to become a hardware engineer but I don't remember most math. Is there any good programs or books you recommend me? I heard brilliant is okay but I'm not sure. Does anyone have experience with it? Also I only took algebra and geometry in high school. Never took calculus. Please help me anons

AOPS Prealgebra -> AOPS Introduction to Algebra -> AOPS Intermediate Algebra -> Hammack’s Book of Proof -> Paul Zeitz’ The Arts and Craft of Problem Solving -> Spivak Calculus -> Axler’s Linear Algebra Done Right

Never knew about this, gonna check this out. Do you also think the app brilliant might help me?

I'd suggest Khan academy for doing problems. It keeps track of your proficency for each problem type, unit etc.
Practice the high school maths courses (and maybe the elementary stuff). I liked to just do the course-wide tests repeatedly and have the system find and focus on my weaknesses.
Khan Academy doesn't do much for your proofs tho

I think Brilliant is more for advanced topics and doesn't emphasise the importance of practice. Maybe yiu'll benefit from it more once you are more academically/mathematically mature.

I dunno how good khan academy is for linear algebra. It's alright for simple calculus I think

Hey bro , I'm in the same situation but I'm doing a math major ... I kinda managed just unuronically with web searches and etc etc BUT well turns out speed of pattern recognition dominates exam :) F

I'll try khan academy and try to refresh my algebra memory anons

So just try to keep looking at guides online?

Read this. Internalize it. Do problems.

Since I want to be a hardware enginner should I just start with algebra 1, then try to do algebra 2, then calculus?

They don't let You re-learn things like math anymore Anon. With second chances like that available, too many bad eggs were able to get Their foot in the door of mainstream society. Public school is Your one chance and then that's it I'm afraid.

make sure to stick in some trig, geometry and stats in there
basically learn all high school maths I reckon, since you'll need intuitions and basic competence with interpreting data, shapes, equations and functions.

To keep it simple I'd start with 6th grade maths in khan academy, train that up until you no longer make mistakes, and then move to the next grade.
If you reckon that you are missing some kind of prerequisite then practice on that that specific prerequisite topic/unit.

Of course, you should practice recording your workings out because that skill of using paper to augment your thinking will be needed to tackle the harder problems later on.
Maybe you could capstone your learning with national maths exams.

Thank you anon I'm gonna do that :)
