doom is pretty different from thrash or faster metal. doom is typically slower paced.

I'm not familiar with Doom metal, but they often take a lot of Influence from Black Sabbath. Though Black Sabbath is a lot more diverse than just being Doom; they have a few songs that would count as (proto) thrash (like Symptom of the Universe or Into the Void). As a newcomer, I guess check out the albums Paranoid and Master of Reality (which is a bit more Doomy).

For Thrash, I guess checkout these albums.

These guys have other great albums, but I haven't listened to all of them all the way through (and I don't feel like making my list that long right now). A lot of this might be considered entry level, but you said you don't know any specific artists, so that's probably not an issue.


It's important to note that something being fast doesn't make it thrash metal, and there are some "slower" (relatively speaking) thrash songs.

Meh. A lot of this seems hit or miss. 70% of what I've come across in My search is boring or unappealing. There was a metal radio station that was pretty consistent with Their cuts. Can't remember the name of the station though .

I think some songs would. but most of their stuff isn't the type of metal songs OP is looking for.

Some stuff from them would be groove metal, but a lot of it isn't really thrash or doom related (and they aren't really a fast tempo band).
