My refrigerator started having issues. The function time is getting larger and rest shorter. Additionally, that sound on the catbox started for around a week now. I can't pin the exact location, but is from the engine zone on the lowest part. check pic.

Everyone old enough to use this website should know that you need to unplug it from the wall to reduce the likelihood that you electrocute yourself if you mess up. Don't force anything because the tiniest crack or hole in any of those pipes and all the refrigerant gas will escape and then your fridge is completely dead as opposed to just been sick or dying.

Sounds like either debris in a fan or a faulty compressor but that metallic ringing sounds like a faulty compressor more than a fan.

You can try cleaning dust and debris from the fans, the one for the compressor in this case, and make sure it's mounted tightly, replace the vibration dampening pads, over time the mounts loosen or go hard. If that doesn't fix the noise, and I don't think it will, you need a technician. There is literally nothing you can do without the proper tools and training. That your fridge is staying on longer to try to get cool says that the cooling just isn't working well, more than simply dusty coils.

If your fridge is in the range of 6 - 10 years old it might cost less to repair, but you run the risk of other things going wrong. If it's older than that then it's probably going to be cheaper to replace.

90% of the cases is due to a faulty Start Relay.
Begin by unplugging the refrigerator to ensure safety, carefully remove the Start Relay protective cover, examine it for any visible signs of damage, such as burn marks, melting, or charring, even if it doesn't appear damaged a swap test is usually the best approach.
Take some pictures so you can reinstall everything as it was originally, remove the Relay, find a replacement (must be exactly the same model) and swap it.

Just buy a new fridge. These things have a lifetime. Once it's used up, get another one. Repair is often just as or more expensive than just getting another one. You just don't want to go through the hassle of getting rid of the old one by lugging it to the dump (which is understandable). Also, people give away fridges all the time (and other appliances) on classified ad sites, you can probably score a deal or maybe even the exact same unit if you spend enough time looking. Then you can do surgery if you wish. Right now you don't have that luxury though since you don't have time since your fridge is dying and will die completely soon and fuck up all your food...tick tock.

Just get a new fridge and move on with life.

thanks guys. I was willing to work it if the possible solution looked easy enough, but I dont want to risk the little time it has, plus I dont think I will be able to find one of the same model. The fridge is 15 years old. I guess I better buy a new one >>1560628

btw, I'm seeing my options, is one with the bottom freezer recommendable? there are also some with wifi. is that no good?

I like the bottom freezer, makes more sense to me.
And your fridge doesn't need wifi, all they want to do is show you food ads anyways.
