I have this shitty little dell inspiron i bought almost a decade ago, it has always ran terribly and even moreso now with things requiring more memory and power. What can i do to turn it into a simple Youtube machine where only firefox is using memory?
>>1560502I know it's a meme but install a lightweight Linux distro like Xubuntu
>>1560503ThisLinux Mint MATE or XFCE
>>1560503>>1560504Do i have to unistall windows first?
>>1560507No, create a bootable linux iso on a usb drive and boot that from your bios or UEFI
>>1560508Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, i will do more research on it in the next few days. Im a noob when it comes to all this OS stuff

Use Cinnamon desktop if it can handle it, it's lightweight and so much fucking better than XFCE. Linux Mint Cinnamon is the best option for this.I tried XFCE on a laptop and it was a near unusable clusterfuck with the default tiny UI and the awful scaling settings.
>>1560502Install Freetube instead of shitfox
>>1560502Your best bet is finding a lightweight way to browse for videos and playing them in mpv. There are several GUIs of varying degrees of bloat, stuff like ytfzf for the terminal, and Invidious instances.
Install linux and download the app "pipeline" from flatpak, you dont need a browser.
Lightweight distros are memes, just use gnomez it wilo be fine, only kde is really heavyweight. Lxqt is the only one that is actually lightweight.
the least meme distro for casuals right now is unironically fedora. you could also just leave windows on it and disable some background shit and it'd probably be fine too, though.
bump
>>1561010what else you need bro

>>1561228>haha i am going to recommend a complete beginner an advanced niche distrocase in point, the biggest problem with freetards is recommending grandma ARTIX WITH WINDOW MANAGER AND ALTERNATIVE INIT SYSTEM!!! instead of Linux Mint
