I need suggestions a device that will let me play DVD backups from a network hard drive on my 480i CRT TV. Any ideas?
>>1560520Raspberry Pi models (1–4) support composite video via a 3.5mm TRRS jack, while the Pi 5 uses a2-pin header, allowing connection to CRT TVs and analog monitors.
>>1560521why no component? :(
>>1560520What tv is it?
>>1560524it's a samsung crt with component and s-video inputs. The screen is like 16 inches.
OP here. Could a device like a Roku work? I have an xbox as well that I hacked but I forgot how to install homebrew apps on it.
>>1560538>but I forgot how to install homebrew apps on it.Connect Xbox to network switch, turn on Xbox, look at IP address, open ftp on PC and type in that IP, copy over your programs to their own folders in your whatever program directory
It looks like my options are>Old Apple TV/Roku >Ps3>Xbox original >Somehow getting my PC to work on a CRT
>>1560520I use Raspberry Pi 4 and a hdmi to component signal converter. Kodi for streaming files or viewing local files stored in a drive. Signal converter https://a.co/d/0fWFlCGvI've tried using an OG XBOX and I hated the limitations of the hardware. I've also tried using a cheaper AML-S905X-CC "Le Potato" and I didnt like the hardware limitations. The Pi 4 has built in Wifi and Bluetooth which makes it way more convenient. I thought about using an old PC. I have an old GPU that supports S-Video. The only hassle is having to use an old OS like Windows XP and some old video drivers. I've also stream video directly to a Mister FPGA using Groovy Mister. The Mister supports comp out. I mainly use it to play retro games on a CRT.
>>1560596An Xbox 360 should work as well. Hell, possibly even a homebrewed Wii.
>>1560520Toss the CRT. Get a free TV off classified ad sites. They give them away all the time. Hell, even goodwill stores and value village type thrift stores have 40-50" tv's for like $50 or less...smaller tv's are like $10-15.
>>1560630>thrift stores have 40-50" tv's*anecdotal experience I thrift regularly and my anecdotal experience is that I haven't seen a CRT in any store for 15 years
>>1560642Hes trying to convince you that you dont need a CRT TV. You have shit reading comprehension. Either way nobody has a CRT just because they cant afford a modern TV.
>>1560645>You have shit reading comprehensionNo one in their right mind would buy a used HDTV from a thrift store. That stuff is straight up e-waste that people just gave to a store instead of hauling it to the dump. If by some chance the used TV wasn't garbage, they'd sell it on Craigslist/Facebook
>>1560646Well he thinks you are too broke to buy a new TV.
>>1560646I think there's a reason your IQ level is so low you have a tiny ass CRT still in 2026 and you're begging for attention here on 4chan. You can't even scrape bottles together to buy a real flatscreen TV like the rest of the planet has. Either you're a 3rd worlder living in a shit hole country or you're epic level stupid. Enjoy your shit level TV faggot, you deserve all the pain and blindness it will cause you. Thanks to the other posters for sopping up all OP's tears and bullshit though.
>>1560630>>1560645>>1560648>>1560653Retarded samefaggot thinks he's insulting the OP
>>1560653wtf are you talking about? I have two nice lcd monitors for my PC. I want my CRT specifically for watching ripped DVDs and old video games.
>>1560654I think you have dyslexia
>>1560660I think think think think you're a samefaggot
>>1560604Thanks. I ordered it and I'll see if it works on my desktop when it arrives. I figure I can probably get another device like >>1560671 to set up network share later.
the adapter is working and everything seems to be fine except the top and bottom of the screen seem to be cropped a little bit.
>>1560630>Toss the CRTToss this anon's opinion, more like.>>1560645>Either way nobody has a CRT just because they cant afford a modern TV.I did for most of the 2010s.
>>1560645I had a huge CRT projection TV until 2010, was a beast.
