My new computer with an Asus Z790 motherboard turns on but will not even boot to bios. I ensured the computer was assembled correctly but it is not working. I further diagnosed by connecting an iPod, it charges but does not display "Do not disconnect". Can someone help me figure this out?
RMA
>>1560810It's a custom built computer with a Phanteks case. I built this thing myself so if RMA doesn't refund me I just fucked up big time. I'm a girl in a Pikachu hoodie so I'm not made of money.
I already opened complicated packages so I don't think I can return it. I think I just fucked up big time right now. If the processor I put in is damaged, that's already at least $150 out the window.
Someone please help me, I am actually worried I just lost 600 dollars for no reason
>>1560810Are you getting any audio beeps? Most common boot failures are ram that's not seated correctly in the slots (recheck all by undoing and reseating each piece). The hard drive or SSD could be pooched or incorrectly powered, a motherboard that is bad or has it's cables incorrectly seated on the pins (check all attached cables). Or your CPU is pooched (or doesn't have proper thermal paste contact with the heatsink/cpu fan. Sounds like your power supply is working (do the fans come on?) If you can't try the various components in a different computer then you're not going to be able to really solve the problem you're experiencing very easily. You might want to take it to a computer repair shop in your area and say, hey, I need a diagnosis which may cost a little $ but at least you can then be sure to have a ballpark figure as to what is wrong with it. It will be less than randomly replacing parts until it works. Those people know how to troubleshoot things better than we can through the interwebz. They have other computers to test your components.
>>1560851I can explain this.- I am using two m.2 drives.- the fans do come on and light up (my fan as shown in the picture is a rainbow spinny fan gamers like to use)- I am somewhat concerned about how I inserted the CPU
Check if any of the diagnostic LEDs are illuminated during startup, if you have a graphics card make shure to comet the monitor to it
