I'm looking to DIY fix my PS4 gen 2 controller which suffers greatly from stick drift and the left joystick moves by itself and I found this repair kit (pic related). But it says it's for gen 1 so I dunno if I should buy or keep looking or just send to a workshop and pay a huge price.

what do you guys think, any other recommendations since amazon has a lot of those repair kits but I am unsure which one I should buy. I am an EU citizen.

Open your controller and look with your fucking eyes exactly what parts your controller is using. Don't trust any online info on what should be there with devices that get regularly revised
I made that mistake when simply replacing a lazer on a PS1. There are trillion guides clearly stating they know exactly what part goes into each model, so I order the part every fucking guide said I need. Part showed up, opened my PS1, wrong part. Double checked the internet guides, they're all wrong.

Anywho. You also wouldn't need a whole kit, you just need a stick, right? Also if your stick isn't flopping around you probably just need the green sensors on the sides of the sticks, which can be swapped off

The whole kit is only for 7 euros/dollars, and I get all the tools. I don't have the screwdriver necessary to open it...

How much is a replacement PS4 Gen 2 controller on ebay or similar? Shipping costs are often the killer deal breaker besides wait time.

Weigh if it's worth your time/effort and chance of screwing up your existing controller even worse than it is (ie, breaking it) versus buying another one as a replacement. Do the math. Make decision. Simple.

Better have a backup plan in case you fuck it up by opening it up and having problems.

You don't have a Philips screwdriver set, and you have a soldering kit to desolder and resolder on a new stick?

That's a single use throwaway screwdriver, I've had China send me several of them as free extras. They're like two inches long or so, with the cheapest handle I've ever seen. Local dollar stores wouldn't even sell those because $1 would be way too much

No. Do I need that? Isn't the entire process with a new joystick just in and out? That's what I saw on YT
Man, I don't have a tech thumb

While searching on Reddit, I found this website with their own instruction videos (not watched it yet) and they sell parts and tools for a reasonable price. Based in the EU too.

Well, I have another controller in the storage. Worse off and dirty but better sticks!

No. Watch this useless video that honestly is terrible but it's the first I looked at on Youtube

Just in and out is just the plastic thumb caps. Cleaning or replacing those does absolutely nothing to fix drift. The green sensors on the mechanical stick are what sense movement. Popping them open and cleaning them is the bare minimum to accomplish anything (well, flushing some isopropyl through the stick to wash them without opening werks). Replacing them is better (needs soldering) but the components you can buy are Chinese, and will have different sensitivities so it's best if you can not

Given that you seem to know nothing, do not buy any specialty stuff online.
Go buy a small screwdriver set from any store, you at least want sizes #0 and #1 of the + or plus or Philips screwdriver. Then go to Walmart and buy a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol
Disassemble your controller
Make sure the battery is detached
Fucking pour alcohol into your sticks. Wiggle them some to work it around. Pour some more for good measure
Dry off the controller and reassemble

Alright, thank you a lot. I just need the screwdrivers then
