is there a good way to determine the good anime per season?
For videogames, at least we have some coherent kind of review/rating system to know what is shit or not and it usually holds up
with anime, I end up having to download shit from nyaa and just find out for myself
not very efficient.

Anime has people rating it too ya know. You can hit Anidb and sort by ratings easily enough

Check synopsis, trailer, and if you're into that, staff. Then you go by your gut, just like you do with everything else. You can't trust ratings/popularity nor most reviewers, and at the end of the day, you're choosing what YOU want to watch at that particular point in your life. I just check anidb.net season chart, filter the few that are instant turn-offs, and then select those that are a must watch. After that, I select as many as I'm comfortable watching, perhaps picking only one of each niche/avoiding too much sameness. However, despite this incredibly intricate process, I am not a snob at all and thus just try to sniff out fun; perhaps I haven't been in this gangsta game long enough.

One thing I do is filter by genre on aniwatch.to like for example filter to: Spring 2026 mystery and then I try whatever combination of genres I'm interested in. another thing I do is watch Youtube videos with every new anime coming out while working out and then watch one that caught my eye after I'm done. Another thing I do is look at interesting looking ones and use the 3 minute rule. Usually if something sucks you can tell from the intro scene. The key is to not waste time finding the good ones/hidden gems per season. Anyways, the last 2 years or so have been quite shitty imo. thT only anime I watched last season was Hell's Paradise season 2 and the last season I watched more than 3 anime was the one with My Home Hero, Hell's Paradise, Oshi no ko, Heavenly delusion etc... I also love pervy comedy ones but with an actually good story kind of like GTO or Bokusatsu Tenchi Dokuro-chan or something. I wish newer seasons would have more of these and less isekai and like generic romance/harem fucking there's even furry anime now rofl Such a terrible joke desu
