I have found out that I really like anime where the slice of life stuff is balanced out with drama or adventure (Think SoraYori, Girl's Lats Tour, Haibane Renmei or Sora no Woto) but I don't think there is a term for that sort of thing. Are there any other shows like that that you guys would recommend?
I haven’t watched any you mentioned but Maybe this?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Devil_Is_a_Part-Timer!It’s not really balanced, It’s mostly a focus on slice of life. Most enemies don’t remain such. The only thing I can think of that balanced the two is a western webcomic, not even a manga style one.
kino's journey would be something you like if you haven't already watched it. there's a 2003 and 2017 anime, both are good so watch both.https://myanimelist.net/anime/486/Kino_no_Tabi__The_Beautiful_World
>>1564863I somehow forgot about this one even though it has been on my list for ages. That is exactly the kind of thing that I was looking for and I really need to check it out. Thanks for reminding me.>>1564801This one isn't really my kind of thing even if it seems like it technically fits the bill. Video game inspired fantasy anime tend to get on my nerves. Thanks anyway though. What is the comic?
>>1564890The webcomic is ennuigo.https://ennuigo.thecomicseries.com/comics/first/It’s a good comic but It probably is not exactly what you are looking for though. One example of this is that There is a lot of slice of life, but it’s not usually in the comfy way that people are looking for. Also the first part has a lot of explicit scenes (which don’t really add much).
>>1564890From what I remember, There’s not really game mechanics or systems in devil is a part timer .Did you mean you dislike those vaguely fantasy video game inspired settings?Like the stuff that takes notes from D&D and other pen and paper games?
>>1564731They’re films rather than series, but maybe check out these 2 ghibli movies. My neighbor Totoro.Spirited Away. The former is lower stakes, even in the adventure parts. Been a while since I watched them. They’re both pretty kid friendly, though the second is scarier. There’s probably other ghibli films that would count.
>>1564731Your list already has some of the best. A few go a bit Kuma Miko when they try drama.Manabi Straight from vague memories might work.I don't recall it being too drama heavy but maybe the setting for Urara Meirochou could count as adventure. Also Konohana Kitan.Warau Arsnotoria was an interesting combination of those things.I think there was more than that one episode in Centaur no Nayami to have the background story in the setting but I think it was more manga content.Maybe Koukaku no Pandora and Assault Lily could count if SoL and action works.Maybe it's just my taste in drama that makes it feel rare to be well done and is lacking in those above. For the combination of SoL/comedy and drama Jun Maeda was the standard for a while with Clannad and Angel Beats and Heaven Burns Red is a nice return to form but no anime.
>>1564731Anime-wise, check out Humanity has Declined. Manga-wise, definitely give Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro a read. It ought to fit well what you're looking for.
