I feel like I'm 40 years older than I should be for even making this. So, I got a new TV today, and I was trying to hook up my digital antenna to it, but for some reason it won't fit. The antenna port looks the same as my old TV, and the coaxial cable can fit onto the old one just fine, but it won't connect to the new TV. I'm trying to find out what could be wrong, but as far as I can tell, there hasn't been a change in how that port works for over a decade. I'm going to sleep on this and check back later, but I'll provide any more info that's needed.
>>1565266>I was trying to hook up my digital antenna to it, but for some reason it won't fit.I have two thoughts off the top of my head1) The entry point for the threads could be tetchy. Push the center pin in as you normally would and push the threaded nut up to the connector. Don't then turn it clockwise like you've been trying. *Gently* apply even forward force and turn it counter clockwise simultaneously. At some point within one revolution you'll feel the threads hop forward a touch, that's your entry point, turn it clockwise there2) You may have failed to push the center pin in. Inside the socket there's two springy plates the pin mashes its way in between, you could be caught up on one side instead of going between. Look carefully or just scrape around in the socket feeling for the gap
>>1565276No. I can rule out "I'm too dumb to properly connect the cable" since I was able to plug it back into my old TV just fine. I'm suspecting that for some dumb reason, maybe the TV needs a cable with deeper grooves or something. I'm going to see if I can find an extension cable today and pray that works.

>>1565266I'd just use a small piece of coax cable from the TV to the digital antenna and use a coupler to connect them both and call it a day. Make the cable as long or short as you think you need for positioning. You didn't include a picture of the digital antenna or it's connector so we can't comment on that end of the device here. It's weird that it will fix the coax cable but not the digital antenna connector. Something is a pubic hair out of sizing spec most likely or bent (crimped wrong). FYI, I live rural and use a digital antenna too and I use a long coax cable with coupler to connect it to my big flatscreen. Works fine.
>>1565363Forgot the pic. This lets you connect both ends to the coax cable and the antenna.
