Every online space and discussion about this band seems to be dipped in layers upon layers of irony. I can't tell if people genuinely enjoy or hate them. Are they a meme band? Is it because they look and sound like /mu/ incarnate?

I enjoy their music when I happen to hear it. Anyone looking for online spaces to talk about music is likely mentally ill, and should be considered a poor representation of the real fanbase.

People love the first two albums, they are amazing. Most albums after that have been lukewarm radio bait, which has upset the fans. They don't hate the band because they suck, they hate the band for making mid tier albums when they are capable of much more. In short, hate-love relationship.
