People call me an asshole whenever I bring this up but isn't the market kind of theocratic? Not in the obnoxious "money is your God man!" but just practically speaking doesn't the whole structure feel like a church? Economists feel more like they're running off intuition rather than measuring objective data because that data is inherently skewed just by the nature of collecting it.

This is an example of maintaining the system above all else. America was too fruitful so the government used tax money to destroy food to maintain the economy. Instead of just nationalizing the industry and giving everyone cheap food and paying the farmers good prices with the tax money.
