Pill me on chinese traditional medicine, is there anything to it?
>>
>>40980067
Yes and no.
Some acupuncture, exercises and massages were beneficial and influenced some western medicine and rehabilitation.
Qigong and similar part-physical, part-spiritual (ratio changing depending on tradition/school) mystical practices also seem to have something to them.

However, China is plagues by shitloads of practices stemming from tradition but of limited utility as well as charlatans and superstitious oldschool equivalent of remote village witch doctors, often mixing secret knowledge of their masters (which may or may not be as useful as outright bullshit) with some contemporary medicine and whole lot of scamming people. Thus a lot of special medicine made out of bits of endangered animals that doesn't do shit.

I tried a bunch of shit; differently works but mileage may vary. Unlike western meds where Pill A does Effect B, TCM is more like cooking where you have the find the recipe that your body likes the "taste" of (bioavailability, genetics, etc.). Reversed a knee injury I thought I couldn't heal any further as someone in his mid 30s, and I use cool kung fu juice for tendons and injuries with decent success.
>>
>>40980067
I'm totally outside the circles that are knowledgeable about the stuff, but the growth in interest in functional mushrooms for supplement purposes in the west has been pretty astounding. Cordyceps in particular isn't something I expected to see on shelves, but here we are.
>>
>>40980067
TCM seems to push the belief that the more unique/rare the ingredient, the greater the effects.

Take for instance, tiger penis is believed to be an aphrodisiac.

Based
Especially the herbal parts, Ayurveda too the Europeans and native Americans all have the same medical herbs to varying degrees but it’s been stomped on by Rockefellers for much longer

Those herbs work better than all medications when it comes to parasites. They even reduce the resistance those drugs build in the parasites. There’s been many studies on candida eflux pumps and diflucan vs herbal remedies
You should read more and you wouldn’t sound so stupid

IMO yes it does to a moderate degree at least wrt the pharmacology side. Many of the herbs and tonics they use in their practice are touted by people who are ignorant of TCM entirely but under the label of "nootropics" or fitness/sexual suppliments so you have both TCM people and the /fit/ and /g/ crowd independantly discovering the same shit works even if detractors call it a placebo

I used to balk at it as as a practice but now I lend them at least some credence. I think their biggest but understandable mistake is how it was packaged and sold to the west. Maybe it had to be that way but the woo woo shit is why a lot of people turn their nose up at it

Personally I'm a fan of Yin Yang Huo, Ginko Balboa am looking forward to trying Black Ant Powder (yes it's what it sounds like I will eat the bugs and be happy)

For unrelated contradicted but totally related reasons I am also looking forward to trying Dong Quai

I don't support retarded shit like eating tiger bones but there is genuine value in TCM, Tai Chi, and possibly even Feng Shui and I say that as a previous detractor.

The stuff they use made me a massive coomer and I thank them for it but I think anyone who does this professionally would be horrified by what I did.

studies show that many herbal compounds can inhibit the efflux pumps that contribute to antifungal drug resistance in Candida. By targeting these pumps, certain plant-based compounds can resensitize drug-resistant Candida strains to conventional medications
Just google it faggot
>>
It's been pretty thoroughly researched just not in the way people would like. When the chinese government couldn't afford to treat all of it's citizens with modern western medicine they started diving into testing the efficacy of traditional remedies to find an alternative. One of the major problems is that they didnt give a single fuck about WHY any of it worked because the classical explanation was functionally serviceable. There's a lot of stuff that's like the cultural belief that cold water makes you sick. The observed phenomenon was the same, functionally it has the same result(boil your water before drinking) but the logic is completely different.
>>
>>40980067
It's good if you understand how it works with the way they characterize bodily conditions
For example
>dampness: sludge type feeling, thickened mucus in the body, sticky shits, brain fog, low energy/qi
>heat: fiery type feeling after eating bunch of inflammatory food like deep fried shit, acute inflammation conditions like canker sores
>wind: cold type feeling like a nasty breeze entered your body, think migraines or arthritis
This is just limited knowledge from using TCM herbs over the years. There's dozen of combination and permutations to describe different illnesses related to these states and more in connection with internal organ axis systems and meridians.
If you go to a practitioner they will prescribe you a blend of herbs to be taken for 3-5 days, usually boiled and reduced on the stove from 4-5 bowls of water to 1 bowl. You'll generally be brought back to a better homeostatic physical state after drinking the nastiest shit you'll ever drink. 80/20 rule with practitioners, 80% of them have like family doctor level knowledge or less and can only help with basic shit like colds, 20% have higher level knowledge and can help with more chronic serious stuff, and you can't know if they're good unless you try them out. It's a gamble until you find a good dude who knows their shit. At all levels TCM only supports your body's ability to heal

On a paranormal level, mind is all so if you believe in it it'll work for you

And it's genuinely one of the few very good unambiguous things to hit western culture too in the last few years, the fun thing is that prices are still pretty low for the net positive results. Mushroom 'coffee'/tea getting serious traction outside of east asia is also pretty interesting, kind of want to know if stuff like barley tea will get traction or something.

TCM originated the model of what now could be called one of the basic foundational elements in east asian mysticism, as far as outlining and codifying the chinese spiritual model of the human body, like qi and meridian channels. This thread's been mostly about herbology and pharmacology, but the underlying principles behind these treatments are informed by a pretty robust system of practice.

Oh sorry for not responding. I do know a lot about stacks but insofar as TCM is concerned the only thing I can mention is Yin Yang Huo/Barrenroot otherwise known as Horny Goat Weed or things like Ginko, Real ginsing or Goji berries

I've always wondered how TCM approaches new world herbs if at all.

I'm still open to answering questions but I don't want to derail the thread. There is legitimacy to this stuff. I took a Tai Chi class from a woman trained by mainland chinese masters from a much more hardcore era who knew their stuff and who I respect dearly for the unironically Jedi like mastery she displayed. I don't like invoking her especially in a tawdry context because I respect and fear this person despite not having seen them in years but TCM, Qui Gong the i Ching and chinese mystecism in general It's not something to balk at even if in the west some might view it with scornful derision. I now know better despite being an White American

I just find it funny you have broscience meatheads and tech nerds shilling mushrooms (not the psychedelic kind) while turning their nose up at TCM. To my surpise almost all of the dumb shit these people push has direct connections to TCM just stripped of it's cultural roots. I'm surprised more don't point it out!

I think in the west it would be wise for TCM to create a syncretic movement around TCM but for a Western audience. I really do think the woo woo shit while understandable only attracted a certain kind of westerner. I do not speak for the experts though just my perspective as a layman but if such things can be adapted for a modern cosmopolitan audience without compromising itself I think it would be good for mankind. I look forward to a deeper dive into such things!

disclaimer I do not reccomend this btw there was a freak episode where my heartbeat got so slow I thought I was going to die. Only a few of these things have ties to TCM and when I did no fap it got so bad a uber ride from a cute driver was almost enough to push me to an involuntary orgasm from the cars vibration alone and I had an erection at work constantly that I had to hide and it made me aggressive as fuck and I ended up getting possessed by my anima and when I did fap I was constantly busting full 11+ shot nuts 5 times a day despite being on androgen inhibiting medications associated with erectile dysfunction and loss of semen production. I genuinely felt like at points I was inches away from death but all I wanted to do was fuck and fight everything around me but it got inverted somehow and now I have delusions of being a woman. (I wonder what the TCM perspective on my madness would be)

To make this not about sex I just want to say that the cultural revolution and western attitudes on such things are bad. Say what you will about China but there is a wealth of knowledge there. I just don't know how it will be percieved in the decades to come

TCM was an invention of the CCP. after the red guards tortured and murdered all the doctors and intellectuals and anyone with a working brain really (well done lefties…), they suddenly had nobody who could heal people. So they drew up a common corpus of practices and treatments from various lines of traditions and teached that to a ramshackle corps of “bush doctors” and sent them out to the villages so at least some medical knowledge was available and around. And from this TCM was born. It still contains a lot of very valuable knowledge.

The real deal is CCM classical chinese medicine from before the cultural revolution, these are hard to come by tho.

Anyhow OP, instead of asking random anons on x, the easiest way to get pilled om tcm is to go to a practitioner in your area and get treatment, then you don’t need to rely on secondmhamd opinions.

Where did you source your stuff from, a lot of this is available internationally cheaply but given the amount of more 'common' plants that's available on that list, I'd imagine the specifications about 'what x plant can do' would be tailored for the Chinese cultivars or however they're defined as being. Also, how did you intake all of this, was this in the form of self-made powders or standard off the shelf supplements or what?

I got everything from amazon and etsy. I consumed them in capsule, powder and tea form and some of them I just ate raw even as leaves and stems out of laziness (it was very unpleasant). Very bitter but I didn't give a fuck when I had mugwort stems stuck in my throat irritated by non water soluble powders.

It would take about 10 minutes to consume my stack and the human body was not meant to consume that much gelatin capsules and sharp plant bark

I was also taking pumpkin and celery seeds. I can't wait to start again it was fun.

at the risk of sounding egotistical the circumstances of my life do unintentionally mirror occult/shamanic initiatory paths of more darker ascetic paths like the aghori just in a very warped and contemporary way.

It feels like a douchebag thing to self label yourself as one but in a very trashy degenerate way I hit all the checkmarks like
>fasting (unintentional)
>asceticism/poverty
>hardcore excesses
>trial by imbibing unpleasant things
>mental and physical extremes
>androgyny
>legit paranormal experiences
>living a liminal fringe lifestyle
>naturally talented at mesmerism and can parse synchronicity, have whatever gift schizos like PKD and Lovecraft had in terms of tapping into higher concepts. Extremely intuitive in an uncontrolled way
>weird auspicious upbringing
>some sort of higher force seems to protect me from bad events/people
>drawn to the darker things in life (not in an edgelord way), unironically engage in demonology, have used ritual magic to achieve financial prosperity etc.

Kinda, but this one is really low hanging fruit, just google tcm doctor, call him, hand over 100 bucks or whatever, experience the whole shebang.

Then come back and report your experiences. Would make for a more interactive thread.

Except of jiangshi schizo no anon contributed anything of value, so OP could be the change that he wants to see for once.
