Start meditating or doing contemplative prayer (Japayoga, Dhikr, Prayer of the heart, TCM)It raises your consciousness by supercharging your prefrontal cortex. After a while you will experience synchronicites and mystical moments that proof by direct personal experience that your mind and your environment are not seperate. Once that happens, the progress becomes exponential since you gain more faith which makes you more motivated to keep doing spiritual practice.The end goal is union with the divine but that is perhaps beside the point considering your question.
