It’s tough, definitely. In this case, my father was the main proponent; he was raised by my strict, lawyer grandfather. They had plenty of unresolved issues — taken out on me, unfortunately.

Overall, the instilling of hyper-self-consciousness has been a positive in certain respects because when we reflect, we are also learning how to restructure situations in our favor, so long as we don’t get stuck in action paralysis once the lessons have been absorbed.

I've been taking care of my mother for the last 3 or 4 years now. She has dementia. Recently, I managed to get her a primate caregiver and I take care of her on weekends. Voices were instructing me to send a bunch of crazy and nasty shit to people. I was consciously trying not to go off on anyone and attempted many times to negotiate with what I was hearing, but it was as if I was fighting off what felt like possession. I’d experience excruciating pain in my head when choosing not to obey the voices, felt like knives. It got so bad that I walked along the local train tracks so I’d have an opportunity to get run over in case I couldn’t withstand the pain anymore.

I say this as someone who is usually hardpressed to cave to discomfort. Even on separate occasions of multiple injuries (fractures, a break, a concussion), I’d have zero reaction. As in, no tears, no change of expression on my face, even after coming out of shock. Psychotic breaks can happen on a level that barely anyone is prepared for.

When I was doing the reading it did remind me of the sensation I had when I had my first episode and of the partner I had back then. I don't want to disclose so much but to a very lesser extent I can relate. The worst I've felt regarding the Voices was headaches or earaches with loud tinnitus during the sessions which it was a sign to me that I should stop reading. Got a few possession attempts but I broke it off by praying Our Father, however that didn't protect me from splitting.

I joke a lot about my mental health to downplay it and cope, but I had developed an alt, but she was only around during that dysfunctional relationship idk if they work that way since I've never talked to my doctors about it and I don't remember her showing up after that.

I do try to do good and help people, I really don't like to see anyone suffering but I'm also very unstable myself and panic a lot so I'm not an easy person to deal with. But all the pain, traumas and issues had made me feel more compassionate about others and learn more about healing and forgiveness. It’s alright, I’ve had a lot of blessings after getting through the roughest patch, so I’m quite a firm believer that our post-reality-broken selves can have better lives than whatever the case was prior to the onset of symptoms. It doesn’t have to be a death sentence as we’re led to believe by society/culture.

Not really.. I kind of recovered mostly on my own by journaling frequently, through prayer, living in a calm home, etc. The only medical intervention includes the 2.5 mg of Olanzapine I’ve been on for the past year, prescribed by my GP. In terms of what’s helped most, it’s a mixed bag. I’ve been experimenting, recording and documenting it all to perhaps assist those in the future whom are faced with similar ailments. At least in the beginning, Jerry Marzinsky’s work and interviews helped me conceptualize what I was going through and I went from there.

Interesting how you related back to your own first episode during the reading and I’m glad that you’ve been able to find solace in religion. I have too, slightly. In terms of alts, I’ve had them come and go as well in spans of dealing with difficult people.

You do an amazing job on /div/! It’s my stance that voices can become rather psychic in nature when we learn to work with them and progress through enough of our issues. I’ve predicted some wild stuff. The deceptive voices tend to appear more when distress sets in, contrastingly.

I am actually going to see him in a month, the problem is that we live in different countries and I'm not willing to emigrate with the world as crazy as it is now. I love him very much but emigrating would be a stressful and difficult process that will take a long time and by then I don't know if we could have a family due to my autoimmune disease.

I was surprised they came out in that order despite shuffling for a really long time.
