First, I'd like to start with a methodology I first thought of in Middle School and later refined. I asked myself, seemingly out of the blue, "Has an ostrich ever fallen over a waterfall?" It was the mid 2000s and the wacky zany animal and irreverent Family Guy and Invader Zim esque humor of the time probably inspired the visual, but it was also probably just me. I don't want this to happen to ostriches, I like them, but it was an amusing visual to me at the time. What started as a gag question led me to seriously consider the likelihood of this happening tho. Where do Ostriches live? do they hang around water? Could one mistakenly run into a river to avoid a predator? What about the great flood myths? Surely an ostrich or two could have been swept into a river and over a fall during that. What about prehistoric times? Sure an Ostrich's ancestor could have been swept over a fall. All this to say, through sheer deduction and imagining scenarios based on what I know about nature and the world, I determined that yes, without having to look it up or ask a scientist of any kind, it as an almost absolute certainty that, at some point in Earth's history, an ostrich, or something like it, fell over a waterfall. I've taken to calling this methodology "Ostrich Theory." Going back to my first statement, I've begun applying this methodology to the paranormal, things that can't be proven scientifically, but might be. I call this "Out There Ostrich Theory" or simplt OT OT for short. I don't have any questions exactly regarding paranormal happenings for now, but I'm wondering about Philosophers, Scientists and or Writers and so on who have coined names for similar types of ideas."
