dude we've been telling you literally since Jesus Christ that the guy in the old testament is actually the fucking Demiurge dude catch the fuck up
>>
>>41012914
Then who is the guy in the new testament? And if that's true, then what God should people worship?
>>
>>41012914
what are the definitive gnostic texts? is there a gnostic bible?

Christ talks about the One, but he's more of an omnipresent source. The Music of the Ainur is closer to the actual Christian Theology the first Christians followed for a couple hundred years.

Read The Apocryphon of John for the lore dump and then the Gospel of Thomas for the uncensored full dump of Christ's secret teachings to the apostles.

>Deuteronomy 18:10 - There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
God is unequivocally against human sacrifice, this should be obvious though, since He gave us our conscience, which is offended at this.
Jepthah was a judge, the book of the judges is basically people doing contrarily to God's will until they mess up for the last time and appoint themselves a king.
The summary verse of the book of Judges, which shows up repeatedly is:
>In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

In the Old Testament, people made vows to God. In the New Testament, Jesus said this:
>Matthew 5:34 - But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
He's not talking about cussing, He's talking about making vows. Apparently humans suck so much at making promises to God and keeping them (or making promises that aren't stupid in Jepthah's case) that God wanted to do away with the whole concept.

Ahhhh finally. I have always liked God, he looks so cool to me. Even with all the /x/ people saying demiurge stuff. By far he is my favorite God and I like to imagine him in an Omniversal war against Moloch Baal
>>
>>41012997
Yeah dude the problem is the Old Testament god (Jewish-Babylonian) is litearlly Moloch Baal dude, just read what the Jews worship and wake the fuck up.
>>
>>41013009
>is litearlly Moloch Baal dude, just read what the Jews worship and wake the fuck up.
I have a genuine question that I have had ever since I watched a video with low views on YouTube about a topic I never thought about.

Basically, the name "Moloch" in the bible is just "Melek" (the king) in the Septuagint, if you translate all of that into the old testament, then you get the idea that God is referring to himself as "The king" and that he is forbidding sacrifice to himself. The problem is that there are parts of the bible where this does not make much sense, because in one about the Tophet of Baal he clearly says that Moloch is some sort of sacrifice to it, and also says "the abominable God of the Ammonites" which Yahweh was not a God of, and wouldn't make sense since the ammonites hated the old jews, which means that they would not worship the same God, and also that it would be weird for a God that is described today as arrogant to literally call himself abominable. Is very confusing.
>>
>>41012997
>I have always liked God, he looks so cool to me
So you like being that allows satan and his followers to to rule and you think its cool thing?
>>
>>41013047
The problem with most "God is bad" affirmations is that it sounds obvious at first but then it gets confusing if you search for reasons of why certain things happen. There are people who get saved by God, and there are people who don't. We don't know his full story.

"as a contract between Abraham and his ancestral deity Yahweh (Nimrod aka Sargon of Akkad) secured supremacy for his family and those that followed. However, in the case of Abraham the trick was to convince the surrounding nations that his god, his ancestor, was their god. And within this philosophy, Abraham’s ancestor god would not only receive the energy from his direct descendants, but from people of other nations, giving this risen ancestor shaman more power than other deities, and more ability to do for his people what other gods could not do for their own progeny. Today, when we look at the world’s major religions, look at the prosperity of the people with the origins of those religions and where they were founded and you will see this very same law at work. Thus, we find the promise given to Abraham that “all nations would bless themselves by means of his seed” was in fact a prophecy about a caste system that began in the invisible worlds. The Defense of Jehovah by Carl D. Franklin, explains: “The god of the ancient Amorites was yawi, also variously spelled yawe, yahwe, or yahweh. The Amorite name was one of the many names of Nimrod. .. Nimrod was worshipped under different names by various cultures in the Ancient Near East."
>>
>>41013080
Where did you get this?

And also, why would the Ammonites worship Yahweh? But I am wondering, if we adapt this to the old testament, what does this mean? I mean, the verses that mention Moloch.
>>
>>41013091
It's an exerpt from this precious book if you want to go down a good rabbit hole.
>>
>>41013091
Yahweh was originally a living tribal chief. They practiced Necromancy and the way they honored him was how they honored their dead, not how they worshiped the celestial gods that weren't human.

Even the goetic spirits were said to be real living people at some point.
>>
>>41013110
If this is true then what is the purpose of the bible? Is the story of the universe creation true? I have so many questions.
>>
>>41012870
It's Jewish humor. When his daughter comes out of the house that is when the Curb Your Enthusiasm music would start playing.
>>
>>41013120
The thing is there is no one true creation story as they all have a bit of truth and they happened simultaneously.

...like right now, all of us live in a common reality but we are all living in a different parallel plane at the same time. Try to make sense of that.

>God is unequivocally against human sacrifice
And against all sacrifice. Hosea 6.6 God is pleased by knowledge and love of Him rather than burnt offering. And later in 8.13, i think, Ephraim built many altars but only increased the sins of the people, they only burn animals to eat them and please themselves, but God isnt pleased by it
And in Isaiah 1.10-20 God talks down on animal sacrifices
But why then give animal sacrifices in the first place? Leviticus 17.7 God will give the law of sacrifice so that people sacrifice accordingly and not "be their own priests" and "prostitute themselves before GOAT SHAPED IDOLS". So people were heavy on idolatry. They had just come out of egypt, after all. And the goat may be a reference to the goat of mendes. Point being they just loved killing animals to eat their meat and cared not what pleases God
Elias sacrifices a bull on mount carmelo and defeats the priests of baal. Elias burnt the offering by uttering the name of God which consumed the flesh even when it was soaked on water. The priests could not do the same with the name of their god. Have you studied vedic culture? They say the same about sacrifices. The mantra makes fire which consumes the offering and unless one can do this feat, one isnt a legit priest and the sacrifice is null

>Jephthah's daughter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jephthah%27s_daughter
>There is an opposing opinion that Jephthah's daughter was "offered to the Lord" in the same way Samuel was offered after birth, and spent the rest of her life in seclusion. This is based on considerations arising from the narrative, such as that weeping for her virginity would make no sense if she were about to die.
Not trying to get involved in an argument, just pointing out that there are varying opinions on what actually happened.

Also you might be interested in reading Max Weber's "Ancient Judaism", he really helps put a lot of the Old Testament into perspective and context of the time period, and explains many of the later editings.

For example, in regards to Jephthah's daughter he says:
>the legend of Jephthah's daughter would seem to document the existence of annual wailing rites for the death of an ancient feminine vegetation deity.
Weber essentially makes the claim that the Hebrews were a patriarchal war-God-worshipping society that migrated into a matriarchal vegetation+death cult+star worshiping society, took over many of the stories and myths, and then edited them to fit into their own ideology (hence all the similarities between the various myths with the Biblical history-myths).

Although the true irony is that many of the people that turn away from Abrahamic ideology (usually meaning turning away from Christianity) because of its "violence and atrocities" often end up reverting to older forms of religious worship where human sacrifice (the very thing they were horrified over in the Bible) was extremely commonplace.

>>
>>41013038
Moloch was a reference to sacrifice, there was never a God called moloch/molech
>>
>>41013038
Yes the KJV is very deceptive and lazy. For example we don't have a word for Elohim in English so when the Psalmist says
>He made him little lower than the Elohim
It's translated as little lower than the angels.

This is actually pretty retarded and completely writes its own theology. It's also one of the few instances of translations I actually looked up, so I'm sure they are all over the place.

(1) Jesus said to his disciples: “Compare me, and tell me whom I am like.”
(2) Simon Peter said to him: “You are like a just messenger.”
(3) Matthew said to him: “You are like an (especially) wise philosopher.”
(4) Thomas said to him: “Teacher, my mouth cannot bear at all to say whom you are like.”
(5) Jesus said: “I am not your teacher. For you have drunk, you have become intoxicated at the bubbling spring that I have measured out.”
(6) And he took him, (and) withdrew, (and) he said three words to him.
(7) But when Thomas came back to his companions, they asked him: “What did Jesus say to you?”
(8) Thomas said to them: “If I tell you one of the words he said to me, you will pick up stones and throw them at me, and fire will come out of the stones (and) burn you up.”

What were the three words?

Worshiping kings and/or any [divinely] messenger, to the point of sacrificing kids to them instead worshipping the One is the problem.
