Why are dreams so nostalgic? I'll have a weird one off dream and for years, decades later the memory of that dream is connected to feelings of familiarity and comfort, despite being a one off experience wholly separated to the "real" part of my memory.

Even if the dream itself is very surreal and abstract, the memory and connection to that dream is always comforting.
