To be the powerful leader, having some helpless individual hacked up and inserted into you. Having to rely on your cronies to do the dirty work of procuring and killing the donors. Having to trust the doctors to keep you alive throughout the transplantation process. I would imagine there is some compartmentalization of information, so the doctor may not even know that the donor was killed and harvested. And then to imagine being the victim. I suppose at the state level, murder is a simple process once a donor is selected and located. One might imagine they are experts at staging the death, and that all documentation and forgeries are a simple and straightforward process. Again, the information and reason for the killing are compartmentalized. Hm. I suppose the whole process could be more simple and less gruesome than it appears at first. But the gruesome aspect lives within the souls of those who know what they have done, and in the individuals who are living on borrowed time (literally harvested from the bodies of the innocent).
