What is it you can feel when praying? There's definitely a sensation there that's different to anything else I've felt before. And only when praying. I've found it doesn't awfully change whether I'm praying to Amihtahba, Gautama Buddha, Jesus or God.Serious replies only please.
>>41050349OP Jesus taught that He is the way, the truth and the life - the only way to the Father. Do you believe this? If so, why pray to these other deities? If not, why pray to Him at all? Please let the Holy Spirit - the spirit of truth - lead you.
>>41050349I will say praying on acid/shrooms feels sort of intense
>>41050349that is your conscience
>>41050349I didn't know people felt anything different when praying. Maybe I never did it right.
>>41050381Because I'm a lay buddhist searching around for the truth. I feel pulled toward Jesus Christ, but I don't know if its just from my Christian upbringing. In any case I bought a new Holy Bible (King james) and I feel comforted when reading it.
>>41050349>>41050478It's a 6th sense. You can literally feel someone, or something, listening to you. At least, that's how it is for me
>>41050537That's the background radiation of my life. Maybe it gets lost in the sauce.
>>41050349Dread. Shear dread.
>>41050537seriously? This is stupid but I would belive it
>>41050349I feel like I'm having a dick shoved up my ass. Is this what you mean by feeling something?
Place palms together in prayer pose, don't pray, just stay
>>41051162sounds like mudra meditation
Why is God in the old testament seem mean?
>>41050349>I've found it doesn't awfully change whether I'm praying to Amihtahba, Gautama Buddha, Jesus or God.You're lying to yourself. You aren't actually feeling anything. And if you do, it's either just in your head or a spirit trying to fuck with you.
>>41051221at first i thought you were an atheist but then you said >it's either just in your head or a spirit trying to fuck with you. lol wtf
>>41051226What part of that has you confused? Do you really think you're supposed to feel sensations when praying? You're lying. Whether you are aware of it or not, is a whole other discussion to have. But you're lying.
>>41051233your committing sin against the holy spirit
>>41051241No. I have the Holy Spirit. I'm not trying to argue here, just letting you know. If you are disingenuous, you will try to argue with me. If you are sincere, then I hope for your sake you take me serious. Have a good day.
>>41051241I'm not saying it's impossible to feel anything during a prayer. I'm saying, it's very common for people to be misled during a prayer due to either feeling something, or a seeing a vision in their thoughts and immediately they are quick to assume it's from God and that isn't always the case. You want to believe it's God giving you these sensations and accuse me of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit while you're here claiming you pray to all these false gods and then you pray to Jesus and are trying to tell me that you're not being deceived? Please.
>>41050381OP, listen to this guy. After I actually submitted my will to God's (which is done by calling upon the name of Jesus for salvation, and legitimately meaning you're going to let Him lead you for the rest of your life and accept no other way but His) God came and changed my entire life. The power of the Holy Spirit is no joke, you'll know it when you experience it firsthand, and it's far more than just the feeling you get when you pray- your conscience is pressing you to call out to a higher power because its ingrained into us to long for reunion with the Creator. Start reading the book of Matthew if you can, or even watch one of those movies where they present it verse by verse visually. You clearly know there's a higher power out there who wants you to connect with Him. If you believe Jesus told the truth, then follow Him. If you would like I can add you to the list of people that I pray for.
Jesus makes it very clear in Revelations that He does not like the cowardly or those who are lukewarm of faith.
>>41051300not super helpful when you're talking to someone who hasn't even committed to God fully yet. we should try and be edifying, but you are right in that God doesn't share
>>41051373It's a life long commitment and He's not playing around. If you're there, it's because you want it. That's sort of the point of the whole covenant, since the Israelities were born into the covenant and they were constantly disobedient. And I believe that may have to do with the fact that they were born into obligation, whereas the new covenant, it's one in which each individual has to personally repent to God. So if you're trying to partake in the faith, you're there because you want to learn and you're there because you're serious. You won't get anything out of it if you're not serious. Just letting you know right now.
>>41051393>That's sort of the point of the whole covenant*new covenant
>>41051373Also, he thinks he's already at a point that he clearly isn't. I don't think he actually cares enough to properly take it serious. He clearly doesn't respect it and yet he is trying to come off as if he is communicating with the Lord Himself. It's important to set some things straight.
>>41051393ok yeah, I agree with you fully on that. your first comment made me a bit worried because I thought it could discourage OP from properly approaching Jesus, but what you're saying is true and necessary for someone needing a wakeup call. I ought not get in the way of it
>>41051523It's the fact that he claimed I was blaspheming the Holy Spirit because I warned him that his sensations are a lie. That's a subtle way of claiming that he has it when I know for a fact he doesn't. I don't think OP is genuine. Most likely a gnostic, given the subject matter and claims being made. Be wary of wolves in sheeps clothing.
>>41051528I might be moderately tech illiterate because I didn't catch on that there were more replies between you two than just the page preview before I started posting .-. I don't know if the guy who suggested that is the same as OP (lack of proper grammar/punctuation makes me think its just a tourist) but I agree with what you said in that people often assume their own emotions are from the Holy Spirit when they're not necessarily. A telltale sign of whether something is from the Holy Spirit is whether it aligns with Christian scripture- since we know the Holy Spirit only amplifies Jesus it should be obvious to the guy that a generic feeling while praying to random deities is not coming from the Spirit. It could be his conscience pushing him to pray in one way or another. Also, I didn't know gnostics prayed to anything? I thought they just ambled through life smirking about how they're 'liberated' from religion or whatever.
>be me>see a girl i like>palms sweating, voice cracks, literal fight or flight response to ask a mortal female for her number>also be me, later that night>praying to the literal God of Abraham>the entity that drowned the entire planet>firebombed Sodom and Gomorrah>turned a woman into a pillar of salt for looking backwards>sent bears to maul 42 kids for making fun of a bald guy>killed every firstborn son in Egypt>"sup God. so listen, i've got this exam tomorrow and i didn't study. would be really cool if you could hook me up with a passing grade. i'll be a good boy, promise. amen"
>>41051634I agree with your sentiment on prayer and the Holy Spirit and how it will amplify what Jesus taught.>didn't know gnostics prayedI don't think they do. That's not the point. OP is spreading false information to give the false impression that God is indifferent to who you pray to. It's very common for self proclaimed gnostics on this board to make up false claims while spreading faulty information to give people the wrong idea about what faith in God is really about.
>>41050349The feeling of inferiority, that there's a being out there more powerful than you that could do things you can't stop and that you beg so things go in your favor. My life improved significantly after I stopped praying, as if I was giving my energies away and all I needed was to keep them.
>>41051989Your whole post is bullshit because you are claiming that prayer costs energy when that's a complete fucking lie. So everything else you're saying that stems from this lie is a lie as well.
>>41050349I came from new age to Christianity. I used to do deep visualization when I would meditate. Being a Christian and feeling Jesus's embrace Is supernatural. The love, the peace, the joy you feel surrounds you fully. Getting closer to Christ has changed my life for the better. I never would have been able to change without Christ. Prayer, or doing the rosary has changed my life even further. It got me a job, got me closer to God, my path In life Is now further defined. Prayer may be so beautiful when properly applied. John 10:1-6John 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.We all need Jesus.
>>41051480I'm the OP I don't think you're right here. How am I not taking it seriously? Because I am Buddhist?
>>41052215Yes, that is exactly why. If you took Christianity serious, then you'd understand the conflict, and there'd be no need for this discussion to begin with.
