Nirvana is imaginary. Buddhism is obscure on purpose. Much of what the Buddha has to say is vague so it doesn't touch on certain things directly so he isn't pushing opinions on people.

If you are literally following the 8 fold path and understand what all of that stuff means then you will become more enlightened. It is my view that enlightenment is a progressive process and absolute enlightenment, according to Buddhism is actually death. Final Nirvana is death. It says that on the Wikipedia page.

Zen Buddhism has this flavor for funny Chinese trickery. The whole idea of using funny little metaphors to trick you into understanding something doesn't make a lot of sense and I think some of this tricky Asian Zen tomfoolery gets retrofitted to Buddhism in general.

There are a lot of forces and scenerios and people doing things in the world and mostly none of them or rational or are aimed at helping people in general. So Buddhism is unique in that it doesn't have a lot of dogma associated with it. It seems to be mostly helpful where Christianity is a cliquey death cult. A lot of Christian scripture is rambling and inarticulate nonsense that was propagated to keep statehood and morality together and people clean of disease. It is much like lord of the rings involved with some anecdotal history.

Buddhism on the other hand seems to be a single person's attempt at taking some hindu ideas and setting people on a more rational path to less suffering.

I disagree with Buddhism mainly over looking sick. Your body should be strong and you feel strong. That's not really about meat. Its more about doctrine and behavior getting in the way of health, which is not the point. You should feel well fed and not stressed out. If austere Buddhism is contributing to suffering then it would not be worth it. Conventional morality does not really withstand the straightforwardness of Buddhism.

Case and point. Buddhism is like "is it helping or is it hurting?" Get rid of bad habits
