Apparently according to Catholics if you aren't apart of the Catholic church (no other) then you are condemned. If you don't take part in the sacraments including confession (once a year) you are condemned. I'm a quasi Christian wrestling with believing in God and trying to repent for my own issues but apparently that's not enough. Doesn't this cheapen "You are Forgiven if you believe in Christ" if there has to be an asterisk over it.I can already imagine the responses, but I always figured God was supposed to be what is more in your heart.
What were the sacraments again. I feel like confetion at least at least seems to be the least likely to be a victim of memetic cristianity. Since I asume god is fine with any pure hearted confetion.
>>41102571The "reformation" wasn't a reformation. It was an attempted power grab. Martin Luther took advantage of certain abuses within the Catholic Church to make himself look good. His Five Solas are not even biblical. There has never been a Christianity that only uses the Bible and only believes in faith alone for salvation. The ideas espoused by other people inspired by him were also wrong headed. ML and every other cult leader type basically hijjacked Christianity. Same thing happened with Islam, with the British backed Wahabi royals being the new Islamic leadership by oil money and other shady means. Cults are not genuine and neither is so called Protestant Christianity.
>>41102571You're correct, God is in the heart. You are better off connecting inwardly than relying upon either side of the 2,000 year old pagan Roman/Jewish mystery cult we call Christianity.

>>41102777Nah, I never proclaimed that you shouldn't change your attitude. I believe that if you want to be saved you should act according to how Christ acted, whether or not that is through a church or not. I don't believe he ever said to even go to a church as a command.
>>41102631"Teacher, what is the greatest commandment?"
>>41102571>>41102598I am neither well-versed in the Bible nor a good Christian. But I think Jesus himself answers these questions in his speeches.I cannot imagine that if Jesus says he died for all our sins, the church is right when it claims that sins are only forgiven if you confess them to a guy in the confessional once a year. That is presumptuous and very blasphemous.
>>41102966>confess to a guy in a boothIt's kind of funny, because Lutherans practice this too.
>>41102571Reminder that Catholics started with Paul (never met living Jesus) which then persecuted the Gnostics (disciples of Jesus)
>>41102571I mean, that stuff is older than the food guide pyramid. Think of how wrong it probably is. We're inclined to believe older things because you can't see how retarded the dead person who blurted it was.
>>41102571Who or what are you condemned by?
>>41103019Sure, it doesn't hurt anyone, and you feel better afterwards, which is probably why they kept it.But people who claim that their way is the right way, and not that Jesus is the way, have not fully grasped his teachings fully.
>>41102571So here's the thing anon the church si an institution and as such is motivated by power and not by faith.
>>41103803That's the official narrative.
>>41102571https://benthams.substack.com/p/universalism-a-comprehensive-defense?utm_source=post-banner&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=posts-open-in-app&triedRedirect=trueHere's a preview, read the whole thing 11 RevelationThe Book of Revelation is a very weird book. It includes these prophecies that many think are of the second coming. The main infernalist passages people point to in revelation are Revelation 20:10-15“And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. … And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”I think using this as an infernalist proof text is very problematic. The literal translation of the words typically translated as forever and ever is aiōnas ton aiōnōn which literally means ages of the ages. But that doesn’t mean it’s eternal, as was discussed before. The infernalist reading on which people are literally cast into fire and burning sulfur is quite barbaric. Instead, the universalist reading makes sense of why sulfur is used, for sulfur was used in gold and silver refining. Zechariah 13:9 describes fire being used for refinement, as does Isaiah 48:10, and Malachi 3:3. First Corinthians 3:15 says "If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames,” and many other verses have similar themes. In combination with the broader biblical themes and book of revelation, this is saying that believers will suffer persecution now, but those who do not believe and reject the good will be painfully refined, suffering more in total

>>41102571Catholic here: God gave us the sacraments, but He can obviously work outside of the sacraments. And it’s kind of like “You are forgiven if you believe in Christ, this is the standard way to achieve forgiveness that we modelled based on our best understanding of the truth (confession).” This also gives the penitent assurance that their confession was good enough (“you are forgiven”).
>>41102571Jesus wasn't a fan of organized religion. Jesus saw that organized religion can be and is corrupted.I'll take the Catholics over the Protestants if I have to choose. If Jesus walked the Earth today, he would be ignored, laughed at, and murdered again. No matter the magic he did.
