What goes on here?Is it like living in an IRL version of Far Cry 5 at this point?
>>41102676Apparently that glowie cult church there is responsible for a lot of the "judeo-chrisitan" posting on here.

What's up with all these Redding posts lately? I'm smack in the middle between Redding and Eureka, so it's the go to place when I need to stock up on groceries or whatever, but I've never really seen anything out of the ordinary there. It's kind of the only "real" city around here. What should I be looking for the next time I go to town? If weird shit is going on I can at least keep an observant eye out and report my findings
>>41105060Like the cult that runs the city

>>41102676Ghost town. I was homeless there for a few months during the godawful summer. Roving bands of homeless people by the library, a dude holding a sign saying “I was raped by Sergeant [name], and donut shops galore. The Christian cult in the town seems to be the last bastion of sanity there, which makes the city oddly sterile and then explosively violent.I’d spend my days walking dozens of miles because the bus system is nominal. The city has no hope due to the prison/jail downtown. I met decaying bums that just drink and watch the busses come in every day.It was frankly one of the worst places I’ve ever lived and when I finally made enough money to go, I went to paradise: Keene, NHEureka is way worse, and Arcata essentially has an open air drug market in the center of town.
>>41105510I also forgot something odd:Merle Haggard apparently lived there and was a notable lowkey celebrity. I was there shortly after he passed and when I mentioned his name to locals, they said, “I miss him.” The downtown “mall” area seems like vaporwave nostalgia and criminals could get you easy there. East side of town is completely different than west side. Prostitutes galore by the Deluxe Inn, and one I chatted up as I’m a good-natured person. Sad life story. Holiday Market on Placer Street has good food and warm people, but still weird Christian vibe. Lots of “spiritual counseling” sessions going on in the nearby Starbucks. It’s a shame because the area is breath-taking, but overrun like San Luis Obispo.
>>41105510You realize they do what they do for a reason right?
>>41102676>What goes on here?guess they're talking bout My Girl
>>41107727Who?
I knew of a couple of physicians that graduated from Stanford that moved out that way. I would be *extremely* wary of that. Coming out of a med school like that and moving to a shithole like the ding? These people are looking for test subjects amongst the homeless and bethel that comprise the entire population of that city.
>>41106077Also about when did you live there?

>>41110884Ever run into anyone with the last name niemeir?
>>41111653It’s all around there. I tried to distinguish myself from the other bums, but I remember going to this bowl restaurant downtown and a black girl in all yellow with a cultish affect and an entourage said hello to me and gave me the “God loves you” rap. Another time, a woman came in that same restaurant and gave me a back massage out of nowhere. It was strange for sure. The library was the containment zone because it was so relentlessly hot. I’d trek from the west side of town on foot, hit up the library, get lunch at the Safeway around there, and then just hit up another coffee shop in the evening. I do remember that it had the same vibe as Redlands, CA - like segregated but someone was always watching you. I was relieved to go on bus trips to Fortuna just to clear the bad vibes from Redding. Being homeless sucks. I do remember walking past a music shop on Pine Strret and getting a hateful staredown from two dudes. I wanted to yell I wasn’t like the other bums (I literally had a job with two employees online), but I knew that if they would target me sooner or later just for existing.>>41111657It sounds familiar but no one really introduced themselves to me except for this neo nazi woman trying to fuck some dude by the river.
