What causes our brain to project nightmares as opposed to a normal dream?

I don't know. I have nightmares most nights.

I have too at the moment. They are vivid too so I have been struggling with insomnia from being woken throughout the night. I just find it strange our brain does that to itself.

You need to strengthen your soul, I used to have them as a kid but when I grew up I realised that I am strong you are the image of God part of God exists in you. I once had a dream were I looked around and found myself in a fiery tornado. A figure appeared infront of me and extended it's hand to reveal a crystal ball and when I looked inside there was a fire tornado that felt much much stronger. I was confused and the figure began to speak a language I have never heard before. At that moment I realised in AN INSTANT thay this was the devil and he was offering me power. The nanosecond I realised that I got angrier than ever looked that bitch in the eyes and yelled NO with all my fucking will and smacked that shit out of his hand and it fell and broke. He got pissed and grew larger and then squished the place I was in into a 2d reality of fire. Felt painful but I wasn't scared. Fuck fear in the ass my boi.

When you have a nightmare, you are under a lot of stress, and this stress makes you half awake, which is why your conscious mind has less trouble remembering your nightmares, while the beautiful dreams in which you are very happy take place so deep down in your subconscious that you can hardly reconstruct them with your conscious mind. Also: dreams have as much meaning as what ends up in your handkerchief when you blow your nose. Strictly speaking, it's mental snot. Your sleeping brain simulates an awake consciousness with dreams while it sleeps so that it doesn't die in its sleep. That's what dreams are good for. But they don't mean anything deeper than that. The snot in your handkerchief clears your nose of dirt, and the same thing happens, in a sense, when you dream. Some people look at the snot in their handkerchief because you can sometimes deduce your health status from it, but most people crumple it up immediately after use and simply throw it away.

Welsh rarebit supposedly causes vivid dreams. The 1902 book Welsh Rarebit Tales is a collection of short horror stories supposedly from members of a writing club who ate a dinner which included a large portion of rarebit immediately before sleeping in order to give themselves inspiring dreams.[38] Winsor McCay's comic strip series Dream of the Rarebit Fiend recounts the fantastic dreams that various characters have because they ate a Welsh rarebit before going to bed. In "Gomer, the Welsh Rarebit Fiend", Season 3 Episode 24 of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., indulging in Welsh rarebit causes Gomer (and later Sgt. Carter) to sleepwalk and exhibit inverse personality traits.[39]

That's actually true. Brain death is a dreamless deep sleep.

Either I've done something stupid and it's a warning, or I've pissed someone off and it's a warning.
