So; how many of you have figured out the reason that Batman almost never kills any of the villians or criminals?

It’s because he’s CATHOLIC

Because it would be too easy.
Where's the fun in just killing the joker when you believe he might be able to atone?

and that's actually true mastery of will , that's what makes him so incredibly dangerous. He's so confident in his abilities that he doesn't have to kill you because you are not a threat

Hijacking this thread, is there anything in /x/ lore that batman connects too? Is there some mystical equivalent of batman ? Is there a god in some pantheon that operates like batman ?

Not IRL, but in-universe Gotham has a lot of /x/ shit about it. Including an ancient Cthulhu god trapped under the city which is why there’s so much crime.

oh in universe is absolutely wild and definitely /x/ but it seems interesting as to why this archetype took off in our collective psyche as something to praise/enjoy. It makes me wonder if there was some historical equivalent force or "thing" that came before.

It's the struggle. Anime fags can relate to the same theme in Berserk, it's about keep going no matter what and never giving up that what makes your soul. Batman believes in punishment and that after that villains can be reformed, he believes there is hope at the end of the long dark and he became a monster to protect people on their way through their journey but he never let the darkness consume his soul.

There actually is, its the archetype of the spirit of vengeance and it shows up in many stories if you know where to look (the crow 2024, sylvanas from warcraft , V for vendetta, skull knight in beserk, maugan ra in 40k to name a few)

Its what makes him so compelling too. He's attained such a level of morality that he sees the supervillains for the tragedies they are and legitimately tries to help them.
Its why he's a hero and not just a vigilante.

I dont believe Batman wants the Joker to atone, he wants the Joker to always be there ready for him to fight. If the Joker atones, Batman loses his reason to exist.
